Default Crowley Meet

Who's going to the last District 6 meet at Crowley? Jim Thompson reminds me that several District champs can be decided there and they have put together a nice dinner Saturday for everyone.

I plan on going over on Friday. Hard to tell what I'll be flying or even if I'll be flying.

Is there electricity available at the field for charging?

I called Jon Martin, CD, but he is out of the country. Mrs. Jon said there was no electricity available at the field. I will bring my generator so that we can revive the judges after I fly. Also works well for TX and RX batteries, etc.

Art W., Lance, I are going. I'll have my trailer and generator, anyone is welcome to use that power as well.

Is there water at the field?

Thanks Dylan

How far from Houston is this contest? I'm in Del Rio, so SW Texas..trying to get an idea of how long a trip it would be.

Arch:

2 1/2 to 3 hrs east of Houston on I-10. Last meet of the season, might be worth the drive. Hope to see you there.

I'll be there along with Bryan Hebert and Jim Thompson. Brian Clemmons should be there too, but due to an unfortunate mishap during practice Saturday, he may not have anything to fly...

I had thought about coming down but just going to be able to. Sure would have been nice to fly with old freinds, Nat, BW, Todd, Earl, Mike Harrison, Ron Barr, Steve Kessle, Jim Thompson and the list just goes on and on, Oh well maybe next year.

Looks like myself and Paul Futey will be coming over from Del Rio. Getting in late Friday...anyone have any directions to the field from the LaQuinta. Or a flyer for the contest.

Thanks,

Arch Stafford

But Ed, the weather will be cool and dry. I wont understand cool dry weather without the Lubbock contingent being present!! That said, it is a long way from the south plains. See ya in Temple/Waco next year!!!

I checked the 5 day weather forecast for Crowley and it's showing perfect weather
for both days - slight breeze, cool mornings, warm evenings, no rain, should be perfect.
Come on down everybody !!

Just wanted to say thanks to Jim Thompson and the guys at the RAMS Club for an outstanding contest. Very well run, GREAT weather and lots of fun all around. Definitely worth the trip from Del Rio.

WHat a great contest, gumbo friday, jambalya saturday. 6 1/2 hour drive for me but worth it. Great weather, light wind, and lots of good flying.
Thanks to all the RAMS members for bringing back the CAJUN NATS.

This was a first time for RAMS to have a pattern contest? Couldn't tell by how smooth it all ran. Food, fun, flying and weather it all came together perfectly. An extremely fitting way to end the season. Thanks to RAMS and all the fine folk who made the weekend so enjoyable!!!

Great contest, perfect weather, but the best part was the Louisiana hospitality, what a great
bunch of people. Thanks to everyone involved. Pennie and I had a very good time, will be
looking forward to next year.

Looks like next year there will be 2 contests at this field. Plans are currently for my club, Dixie, to host our annual contest at the RAMS field early may, and then the RAMS plan to have this contest around the same time. Jim felt the facilities at the crowley field were better than what we could offer at Dixie, and also it is a little closer for all you Texas boys! Great contest... I was very happy to see 25 contestants made it to this one. Props (pun intended) to Jon Martin and his wife for getting this all together, especially to his wife for spending their anniversary at the field on Sunay! I look forward to seeing everybody again next year...
