lex most of these designs fly ok with more forward cg. if you get an aft cg you are in for a ride. mine balances at 10 inches.
As far as landing here is the best trick. program spoilers (ailerons up) in your radio for a landing condition on a switch. program them up about 3/8'th of an inch or about 10mm. set the elevator flat and use a meduim pitch control. just be ready for a pitch up. hopefully you mounted 5-8 degrees downthrust. with the flat tail it wants to pitch up a bit.
once you get it trimmed....slow down and deploy the spoilers and the nose will pitch up but it will fly level like a real jet flying slow. thats how you land it on mains first. my first landing was a greaser once we figured the spoiler trick out. otherwise it wants to float forever. just let it roll out straight because the landing gear isn't all that strong. you will be fine. the spoilers also let me slow down about 15 mph. I balance with tank empty. If you follow the book you will crash it. read back in this thread.
Also when you fly, because the tail is flat, when you roll inverted it will take more down to fly level than most planes. just the design, so I fly on medum pitch rates all the time.

hi all Maiden the keecat today. thanks to flyboy99 for the set up tips. i'v got an 0s61 on mine so I set it up exactly the same and it flew great. first fly nice and steady with plenty of power just keeping it level - did 12 circuits, nothing fancy and came in for a landing. think i dropped the speed too much and it kept ballooning on me. after a hairraising moment standing it on the prop half way down the field got some speed up and got flying again went round for another approach and got it down this time, after a few ballooning instances. second flight - took off great, nice steady climb out, lots of power from the os61 and apc11x7 prop. Put the landing gear up this time and opened her up. had to put in 5 clicks of down elevator like all the other posts said it wants to climb. that seemed to do the trick and it was flying straight and level, did a few split S's and some fast passes down the field.Flying great then came down from split S and the engine cut. Fiddling for the re-track switch managed to get the gear down but by this time I was far down the field and over the trees, turning for the field it slowly started to sink and went down behind a 40' pine tree . Well that was my flight with the keecat. Came across it in the woods and it looks like it fell backwards and landed on the booms. The engine mount had broke, a few tears in the elevator and dents in the wings and nose. The fuselage is in one piece so I have got away with it, it should have been coming back in a trash bag. I need a canopy and 2 booms and a bit of patching here and there and it should be flying again. In all, exciting 2 flights and a very steep learning curve. Got to find out why the brand new engine cut - some investigating to do tonight. lol will have a go at postin some pics all the best for the new year jason

jaston. Im sorry for your loss. I think I know why you had an engine cut. On your Jtec pitts style muffler, the exhaust is slightly angled forward. My Jtec is the same way. As the speed increased the exhaust back pressure rose, so when I backed out of the throttle it quit.....when I hammered it going downhill it quit. We could never get the mix right and had several dead sticks.
then it hit me....I went and bought 1/4 inch 90 degree pipe bends and JBwelded them to the exhaust and turned them toward the rear. Problem solved. I believe you may be the victim of overpressure. it floods out the motor right now. the problem is it runs great on the ground and if you are going slow and on takeoff.
The very first flight after installing the bends, the motor pulled great!! we got 14800 rpm with a super tigre .90 and a graupner 11x8. It ran about 100mph.
That would be my first guess looking at pics. OS's run so good so It has to be something like that.

Also. the most effective way to stop ballooning is to program spoilers. no more than 1/2 inch is required to make the jet settle nose up. I used 3/8 inch. it was absolutely the most effective way to land the jet.

When you repair the motor mount...drill some holes longways into the substructure and install about 6 carbon rods into it with epoxy...then cut them off flush. the vibration tends to make the mount on the keekat come loose anyway. sorry I dont have pics at the moment..

i will have a good go at fixing it by then fingers crossed, its all back in bits now inner wings and outers ok few dents on leading edge on one nothin major, fuss ok small dent on nose no structural damage still solid!,elevator couple of holes in covering thats all, started stripping back covering on booms doesnt look too bad ($55)can be fixed quite easily, its the canopy ($30)thats guna take time if i dont order a new one, looked on the richmodel USA site and you can buy a new plane now for $119+shiping thats $100 less than i paid for that one so might just go order a new one. your f-16 looks too good to be sitting in your hobbie room got to get it in the air, i was woried about the COG so made it slightly nose heavy at 9.25in and trimmed out not too bad had to give it 5 clix down elev and a 3or 4 clix right aileron and was straight level ,flew quite good til engine cut and hit that bloody tree! should of made for field earlier and belly landed it in the long grass might of kept up a bit of air speed then and been another story oh well back to patching up .............lol

Tks Jason, very kind of you. But I´ll like to see your new pictures ok?
I have a question... If any of you guys could help me, I´d appreciate. Does the antena has to be positioned outside the airplane, or can I put it inside of the model? Is it secure?
