Man!!! Goose and Jason, you are getting really serious with your Keecats... hahaha.
Pilots, turbines, new retracts... UAU!!!
And how about a smoke system... would it work properly in a pusher plane?
Your tips are very very nice for me... They will help me a lot in my plane. Thank you guys.

My "building sessions" are very short because of my job... but i´m working on it!!! As soon as possible I´ll put some pics for you...

Hey, I have a question... what king of batteries are you using in your RXs?
I have a NiMh 6V 2000 Mah... is it enough?

Tks guys... see you soon.

Caio.

Yes the 2000 nickel is enough. I am running a 2300 A123 on a single 3 wire plug. 6 volts is good for this one for holding power. I have never had an issue with up to a .90 size plane running one wire for power. Above that, things change though.

Smoke.. Dont know.....not sure what the smoke would do through the prop. dont want that stuff to get into the carb anyway.

I decided not to turbine the keecat. I would be a bit worried, and need to rebuild a few things. I dont know how the Nitro bobcat holds together with the Wren44 on it. the motor mount and such are not the best and it would have to go up above 10 pounds, and have better retracts. In the future, I may reconsider putting a Wren Gold 44 on it, but more likely I will build a small scale plane.

In my former life I was an F-16 and F-4 driver, and worked on the F-22 program, so I will likely build one of them.

But for now, I purchased the Boomerang Elan yesterday from Alan, and it will have a Wren 54 super sport on it. 22 pound airplane, 19 pounds thrust.

If you come to florida jets, there will be two there from Boomerang Jets to demo. They are for sale now in the states. contact Chad Russell at Sin City Jets on setting you up with everything if you ever go that way.

In the mean time, I will just keep flying the Keecat with the ST.90 as a good warmup plane for the faster ones. Its still a blast to fly at 100mph. It has good vertical and once you get the trick of landing it, its not too hard. It will make you better, and its a beautiful plane.

happy greased landings!!

Hi all ,
The battery im running with is the 6V JR EXTRA 2700 nimh battery ,got the bigger capacity so it would balance right instead of putting weights up the nose and thought it would be best with all those servos .
Got about 10 flights on it now and alls seems to be ok very pleased with it ,
Goose i looked up the elan ,nice looking jet looks great for a first jet this guy up the field has one and it floats in on landing, nice and easy,its got a wren 44 on it and sounds great ,i went to florida last year to see top gun and the jets down there were amazing, there was a couple of phantoms there coolest rc jets ive seen guna get me one when i win the lottery...........ha ha...........[ ,
keep on with it Caio at will be great when its all done...........Ow and im looking into a smoke system might aswell throw it all in there theres plenty of room

Nice keecat there Jason. I just wanted to ask you what type of servo you have on that elevator. You seem to fly it much like myself...fast. I lost one of mine due to an elevator failure in a dive because the elevator servo failed. Since then, I have used nothing but a hi torque MG servo on the ailerons and elevator and I don't recommend using anything less. Anyway, just wanted to let you know.

Thanks Pubhi , sorry to hear that one of your planes went in .....the servos im using are :-

Elevator = Hitec HS 475 HB x1
Rudder = Hitec HS 475 HB x1
Ailerons = JR ST 126 MG Hi-TORQUE x2
Retracts = JR RT 88 x2
Steering = Hitec HS 645 Mg
Throttle = Hitec Standard Servo

Was this the servo you was using on your elevator if so i wont fly it again until i get a HI-Torque MG for it ,so far i havnt had any problems but would like to hear from you just incase ..
Is there anyone else using this servo??????????? any problems??????????do you think the HS 475 HB is up to the job ???????????Torque = 76.00oz/in@6V ,High Impact Karbonite Gears
cheers,
jason

I don't know much about the 475 but I was running a standard futaba servo back them. It was old, used and abused and just not meant for a plane that weighs 7#'s with triple digit speeds. I know karbonite gears are strong but they aren't nearly as strong as metal so my recommendation is that you switch the elevator servo to a hitec HS 625MG. It is inexpensive and will do the job very well.

I have had a keecat in my hangar for the last year or so and really don't fly it much because I always seem to have engine problems. I am running an evo .61 with pitts muffler. I think the little engine does't have enough pressure in the exhaust to push the fuel all the way from the reverse tank and back to the engine. I am curious as to which fuel setup everyone is using? Mine always seems to run fine on the ground, but after 2min of flight it slowly starts to lose power and dies. Any thoughts?

Hi learjet ,just a thought but sounds like you may be running it a bit on the lean side. our century heli was doing the same at first , it would start great run for a while then power would go and it would just idle and engine would get really hot, I richened the mixture (turned mixture screw out 5 clicks)and that was it - since then it has run great .
thats my 2 cents worth ,hope you get it sorted
all the best
jason

Thanks Pubhi for reply iv got a 625MG on order at LHS just to be on the safe side but must say iv inspected the one i have in and all seems to be working ok with no play in it and flight is rock solid and precise ,so so far the 475 has the thumbs up
thanks

Ussually, this is the case of the exhaust pointing slightly forward, and it cannot overcome the wind blast and that it cannot pressureize the fuel cell too, but it also heats the motor.

put the fuel cell pointing forward, and make sure the exhaust ports on the motor point aft. If they do not, put an extension or pipe turning them to the rear.

I have got the exhaust pipes cut down with dubro extentions on them with about 1 1/2" but off of them. They are definently pointing aft and with no chance of bending closed at speed. The tank is facing forward as well. For the life of me I can't figure it out. Do you think it is possible that the tank is under pressurized? I am running a rather large tank. I was thinking of plugging up one of the exhaust pipes and seeing i that help? Any thoughts?

good question..... Its possible.

Take the nipple out of the muffler and make the hole larger, and use larger tubing on the feed lines. Make sure your tank can hold pressure. then run your motor richer overall.

If that doesn't work, you can add a perry pump, if that doesn't do it, I dont know.

Hi learjet im running a pits muffler on my Keecat with the pipes cut off and turned to the rear and my tank faces forward with a header tank between the main tank and carb >>
it does'nt seem to have any trouble pressurizing that little lot and runs very good...........check that your pipe that pressurizes your tank from the muffler is'nt kinked any where...........

jason.

with the use of the header tank system....do you run the exhaust pressure to the main tank or the header tank? If its not to much trouble can you tell me a little about that whole system. Thanks ..... I will have to post pictures of my keecat next week. I am almost done finishing it off in a
