The 300 is coming along great and if everything goes as plan I will be covering in a few weeks. Here's a pic. of the hard points that will be sitting on top of the "l" brackets to hold the stabs in place.

As always I used robart hinges along with their jig and will be using rc-56 white glue to glue them in. A 3/16" brass tube was used instead of a drill bit to drill clean holes!

Here's something I've been doing to "hide" the hinges. I use a dremel sanding drum and sand a "half moon" on every hinge pocket after monokoted I use a soldering gun to burn a hole through the monokote.

Albert,

Thanks for the photo's, I can't tell you how much value they add to the understanding of the build. After watching a couple of these, I feel like I might be able to do this. It will take me a year, but it would be fun.

Keep up the great work Albert!

Ward,

No problem with the amount of knowledge here on rcu as well as other forums building one of these isn't as hard any more.

I made some templates this morning and hollowed the top deck, there was a savings of .9 oz which brings the total foam savings to 3 oz on the hole fuse. There's two reasons for cutting the foam out of the top deck.

1. It makes it easier to pull or push the sides for that perfect fit ( actually it might be a 1/32" off at the most )
2. It will allow me to mount the tank right on top of the wing tube, other wise it would hit the bottom of the top deck.

Albert, are going to build the cockpit like the plans or make it an open truss on this plane?

I don't know yet, I've always tought it would look cool to have two instrument panels and two pilots but that would add a lot of weight so I'll probably be open truss.

From the photo above, it looks like you'd have to modify the floor to fit around the tank anyway.

I feel like I got nothing done today but some days are not as productive as others. The hatch frame work is done and I even decided to get a little creative with the back plate of the hatch.
