Thanks for the advice Cherokee. I'll definitely be meeting up with you guys at Nuclear to get some tips/help on the 8T during the year. Based upon yours and Integra's posts, I also just picked up the M2C Hardened Hinge Pins, M2C 5/32 Outer Hinge Pin Kit, King Headz Extended EZ Change Motor Mount and Rear Radio Tray Stiffener, Dynamite Max-Life Aluminum Clutch Shoes, losi Aluminum Rear Gearbox Bearing Inserts, Losi Aluminum Center Front Diff Bearing Adapter, GMK Supply "CVD Condoms, and Losi Clutch Springs (Silver). Hopefully that should be good for now (need to give the bank account a chance to catch its breath!). Still need to figure out bearing situation though. Really looking forward to driving this thing!

Who's got the best deal online on the 8ight-T right now? I have a TTR ST-1 (love it) but want one of these as well.

It's ~$430 with free shipping @ ultimatehobbies.com right now. That's where I got mine, no complaints. Even with free shipping, I received it in 2 or 3 days.

I would say anybody who still might have some of the lower price units still left. Horizon just raised the price a couple of weeks ago. Make sure you give Modhobby.com a call. Ask for either Alex or Jon. They should have the best price all other things being equal.

That price from ultimate might be hard to beat, as that is what I paid 4 weeks ago from modhobby. They must have some of the discounted units left. I would still give Mod a call and see what they can do. They also gave me a killer deal on a motor as well.

Man that is a heck of a shopping list just starting out. I just picked up the KH extended motor mount kit today to try and stop and flex at the clutch bell. I also put the M2C outer hinge pins through the wringer this weekend and they held up great. I would switch out the stocks before you even race once to save yourself the trouble of doing it anyway a day or so later. I don't think you wll need to worry much about bearings for a while with the KH mount. I blew out my clutch bearings once so far, which distroyed most of my stock clutch shoes. The Dynamite max lifes are holding up great so far.

You may want to hold off on the tray stiffener. I personally think it is going the wrong direction and want my tray to flex if need be instead of putting all that stress directly through the servo. I am one month into running two 8T's with no servo failures yet. Another member just fried a digital servo on the throttle at the field on Saturday. When I looked at his set-up, he had added rubber underneath the battery box instead of just the two o-rings, which stiffened the whole thing up so it did not pivot on the screw. The screw was flush on the bottom, unlike mine that has a gap all around the head. He also ran the stiffener on his tray. I think flex is your friend in this case, but you just want to make sure your endpoints have play on the throttle (both in the idle and full throttle positions) as well as make sure you full brake point is not too aggressive. I am using fairly cheap servos on the throttle (I stole my son's JR 650 off of his RTR's steering for mine and I gave him a 10 year old JR 4031 from my helicopters). I am not too mean though as I gave him an Ace 1015 digital servo on the steering to replace it. You are going to laugh at my backup servos. I just paid $7.95 each for (2) Hextronic 12 kg High torque metal gear servos from HobbyCity. I have used their 9gram servos for a long time in my small planes and I like them better than the Hitech 55's. They are only $3.95 each. Funny you buy them direct from China to save money, but all the high dollar name brands are made in China anyway.

I just received my 8ight-t RR and immediately set about changing the rear bearing inserts to the losi aluminum replacements. The rear diff now makes a loud ratcheting sound when the outdrive is turned. I changed back to the plastic stock inserts but the sound is still there. I've read a few other people had this problem but can't find any solutions.

I second that. My RTR needed a gallon or so till it really came to life. Not just the engine but performance over all.

What is everyone doing to minimize the slop in there steering assembly?

I love the 8ight, I hate the slop in the steering.

Matrix Concepts is the Solution....I made my own of corse...but have some of his as backup's if need be....ive ran at least 2 gallons through my Trug and bug and have yett to feel any slop compared to the stock Bushing set-up....there are guys using brass and pressing in inserts and using differnt "shoulder'd screw"...but i like the Carbon idea 1000X better...and for me its a Cake to make.

Ya thats where the slop seems to be coming from that damn ackerman arm,

Its like there is 1mm of play in a couple of areas that adds up to major play,

I'll take a look for a diffrent setup, I don't have the materials to make an arm myself
