Grahama ...

I had "heard" it was Ho Bao but I havent been able to confirm the dirty little secret of Kyosho's underbelly ... I just find much irony in that - if in fact it can be verified ... +

I didnt post it as fact as I cant verify - what many around the industry KNOW, but the Kool-Aid drinkers refuse to accept.

So I guess I can AFFORD the best? I just "choose" not to pay 2x for the OLDER version ... LOL

This doesent bother me but it obviously excites you.
If you look at the kyosho cast parts, They are cheap to buy. Wishbones and front knuckles etc.

It's the quality engineered parts that are expensive, Like the bonded brake pads, Machined shock towers etc.

Well again I fail to see your arguement, as the Hyper 7 Pro UK has Bonded brake pads, from FERODO no less and they are renowned for quality. Also they are exactly the same in grade as the items offered by Kyosho at almost twice the price. Once more the name on the packet costs you more for the goods. All the name Kyosho is is a status symbol so you can keep up with the Jones', the only item of quality I have seen on the 777s are the tyres that they run on and that you see in the press photos, mmmm, Hobao Angle Spikes I think they're called.

I'm not argueing just stating fact, Unlike yourself. I take it you havent seen the kyosho pads and hyper pads together. Again I HAVE, As I base my statements on facts and not on brain farts.
If you have seen both pads together you will know they are different, For a start kyosho do not claim to use ferroda.

I have been a Kyosho basher now for awhile. I have owned 2 SP2's and was not that impressed with them.. Here is why I bash the Kyosho... the parts in the kit are fine.... BUT ITS WAY OVER PRICED!!!!!!! Kysoho has ripped off the public too long... When they were about the only car on the market, I remember people saying 1/8 was way too much money for them.. THats because the Kyosho had very little to NO competition and the kits were $700-800. NOw there is competition but Kyosho still is a rip off.. Example:
1. E-clips are cheaper to make then captured pins
2. tube chassis braces are cheaper to make the CNC
3. Cast knuckles cost pennies to make compared to CNC
4. wood screws are cheaper to make then machined
5. still on piece center diff holder instead of one that breaks down making removal of diff easier
6. only kit I have built that has no servo horns (minor gripe)
7. STILL NO TIRES INCLUDED!!!
8. still plastic toe plates instead of CNC like every other car.. much less to make

YET the kit is still the MOST expensive kit on the market..... WHY????????? and I don't give a cr**p about a championship.. If that is the case then the WC Edition should be 90% FIoroni!!!
Kysoho has ripped off the RC world for too long... REALLY when I look at the kit I can't understand why it isn't under $500?????

Here is a pic of the hyper brakes and a pic of the kyosho brakes. The hyper is the brake that looks like someone has sh1t on it and the kyosho is the quality engineered products

You are right regarding Kyosho having there own way before. But now there are too many quality buggys in the same league (Xray Mugen). There could also be the hit with the Losi and team magic to contend with. I don't have a problem with this.
The problem I have is when people are comparing hyper and hong nor to kyosho. There is just no comparison.
Also if you don't like kyosho don't buy it!

I won't buy it... I went from the SP2 to the Jammin (Hong nor)... The Jammin held up (for me) better then the SP2... I had no problems in 5 gallons with the Jammin so to say it isn't on the same level is completely wrong...

That's fair enough but I know someone who had a 3 year old Kanai 3 and bought the CR pro, After a bust diff, broken spur wheel, bust shock and worn out clutch bell (during the summer) He has sold it and bought an Xray.

On the subject of price The SP2 is the same price as the Losi8 and MBX5t and similarly priced to the Xray.
Also I paid £360 for my ST-R which is £40 more than the CRT and £120 cheaper than MBX5T.
