would that 6717/3 blade work on my blackjack 55? i have a new miss lumar "bought from jerseynick" greatest guy in the world btw.. i also want to do exhaust on both can you recommend one for each? this rudder setup from speedmaster is hiding from me as well the 141 is not on there maybe a link to it so my dumbbutt can find it please???? thanks guys

Sure...it'd work. How well...thats the question. Some cats like lifting props...some dont, so you first need to know what kind of props the hull likes. On the blackjack, i'd probably try a 6518/3 before a 6717/3.

Well guys ,its been some time since I've been on to read anyones posts. So got some time to finally read everybodies posts , and I'm glad to see how to this forum is helping everyone get their boat performing at its best. Well I took my boat earlier this week trying out some new props when, my radio switched my steering servo setting and reversed .Instead of turning right it turned left leaving turn four and shot to the bank and found a small sapling just missing the inside of the right sponson i will let you know how its runs after adding resin in it .

8thscale , I have tried a lot off props but still none off them can beat the 6717 /3 . I have tried e.g. 6516 /3 but did not beat the 6717/3 ( I have sharpened and brought the prop 6717/3 it to a weight off 2 grams )
Maybe there is someone out there that has a better prop for this boat.

Question: The 6717 /3 who is it made by? I am new to Gas boats, and have a copy of Octura's prop chart but cannot identify a 6717 model anywhere on the chart. could you please help?

Thanks Neil

All you need to do is send a email to dasboata@aol.com and tell him you want the 6717/3

Few actual hull mods were made as I didn't want to take too much away from the looks of the boat.

To help counter-act the upswing of the front canard and also help keep the front of the boat down during full throttle, two clear airfoils have been added. Autobailers were added to the rear of the boat to help drain water out.

Hey BD13,took my bud out for the maiden splash yesterday,ran great w/stock 260 P280/2,at around 40ishmph...it would become a one-point hydro (LOL ) and ride the prop for about 30',(ON THE EDGE of BLOWOVER)after i persuaded my son (with the tip of my boot)to back off the throttle,it would gently come back down,but would do it again once speed is reached,I like the idea of the airfoils as it's better than adding weights,and it seems like it's just a fine hull trimming issue thats needed,(the strut is already jacked about 3/16" my question is....the height of the airfoils on the front canard? should i start out at 3" and trim them down as needed, would it be wise to make the right side,taller than the left to help keep that fin somewhat planted...?I'm aware of the issue's with COG on the bud,but other than relocating engine further forward,any other tricks to keep the three-point theory in effect? thanks

Start with moving more weight forward before adding the airfoils. The airfoils help balance the canard but they won't answer the bad CG issues of this hydro to begin with. Once you have your hydro balanced out better, then you can experiment with the airfoils to fine tune the handling a bit more. It's trial and error so test what works best for you. I do recommend them as the front canard does create some lift in stock form. I know a few guys who have just cut the canard off, but I didn't want to start hacking away at the hull and came up with the clear airfoil idea to keep it in it's scale appearance.

Did'nt mean to go outside the most relevant thread(this one ),just wanted to get it out there ...I'll continue my future post here....as i lastly posted elsewhere( lol )my current COG is at 7+" behind the lowest part of the sponson... adding 20oz. to the front canard brought it to 4"...ideally it should be at 3"???,have you heard of off-setting the added weight(s) to the sponsons making the right heavier than the left....? darn I hate adding that much weight,but there's not much left to move forward(cept the engine)....

You can absolutely add off-setted weight to the sponsons. Buy some airplane stick-on weights so you can move and adjust as necessary. Add some to the left sponson first and go from there. You might also want to try different sized shims for your strut to push the rear out a bit more and to level the front out. Like I said, it's trial and error so see what works best for you.

Hello Buddriver13;
I plan building a Miss Budweiser Type Hydro in 1/8 scale. I want to use ply and glass as builing materials. Right now I am in the stage of designing the hull in AutoCad and then converting it into 3D. Could you tell me what's the distance of the shaft to the bottom at the transom, measured from the centerline of the shaft ferrule. My boat will also have rear sponsons like yours. The step of the rear sponsons to the bottom is 20mm or roughly 3/4". Your help is greatly appreciated. Perhaps you could upload a ew more pictures of your nice Miss B. Thanks

Not sure if you have investigated this or not, but I would take a look at some plans from Roger Newton (www.newtonmarine.com) and base your build from there. It sounds like you are scratch designing and building this yourself which is great, but Roger's plans would make a great point of reference for 1/8 scale models. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend any measurements from the Proboat Hydros because there design is completely off the mark, hence all the mods I had to make to get it somewhat close to correct. Are you planning on using a nitro or gas engine??
