Hi,

I have read some threads regarding the 5955 and seems that they were some issues when this servo came out. I recently purchased three of them and want to check if they come from the latest production or not. How can I check that these servos are not the ones first produced? Do they have a serial No, or version on them? Mine have a trash can sticker, what does that mean really?

Looking forward to your reply,

Thanks,
Nick

The only revision to date was to change a component value to allow our v1.04 digitals to interface with multiple ganged servos driven from a single channel and a Futaba PCM RX; this was an OEM compatibility specific quirk or refinement for Futaba PCM RX’s.

The trash can symbol is a European requirement for recycling of said device. Purportedly any servo with the trash can symbol has an updated amplifier and is not of the first release batch in the evolutionary cycle of the Hitec revision v1.04 servos.

Hi Mike,

Thanks again, no I'm JR and I've been thinking of using an isolator between the receiver and the servos. I'm not going to programme the servos two of them are going on ailerons and one rudder, I believe programming is not needed in that case right?

Regards,

Nick

Correct, but there are distinct advantages to programming our servos anyway.

Which Futaba PCM Rx is the best to use with the 5955 where I am least likely to see a problem? I have five of these ready to put into a new plane and I have not heard a definitive answer on this subject in the various threads. Any recommendations?

All of the Futaba PCM RX's have issue as far as I know.

It's easy to ascertain if you have issue, simply use a wye and a couple two 5955 to the wye and drive them with a Futaba PCM RX, they either work or not. If they don't work they are early release servos which can be updated free of charge. In any event if you don't need to use a wye, it’s not a problem.

Thanks. I guess I need to read up on this issue more before I buy a receiver. I was hoping to use a Futaba PCM with my Futaba TX without any wyes but now I am not sure.

It’s easy enough to ascertain if you have a problem with a wye, no concern here. The Futaba PCM RX will work fine with wyes and multiple servos with our updated v1.04 servos worry not. Unless you bought the servos a year ago or so its probably not an issue anyway all the servos were updated after the first release..
