Ok, I just bought a 60 and a li-po, brushless motor and esc to go with it. Its my first heli so this is probably a stupid question...here goes anyway. So when the voltage of the li-po (or nimh) battery is reduced to 3v (assuming this is the cut-off) will my bird fall out of the sky or does the esc actually just reduce power to let you know you really need to ground it. Thanks!

well it shoudnt be 3 volts thats too low, but it depends on the ESC, programmable ones have different settings for what happens when the voltage goes below a predetermined amount ( which can be set by another parameter

Ok, well it is coming with the walkera brand brushless esc. I would imagine you can't program it. The websites states this:

Brushless 30a ESC
Sustaining voltage: 6-17V
BEC current: 3.0A
Continuous output current: 30A
Instant max current: 50A
Inside impedance: 0.0044 Ω
Reversion: yes
Low voltage, cut electricity protection: yes
weight: 32.4g(approximately
Reversion: yes
Low voltage, cut electricity protection: yes

Any idea from that info as to what it will do?

Well, before I got a LiPo monitor I over-discharged my battery with the Walkera ESC...it did not reduce power or anything. I think the Walkera ESC is either set for a very low cutoff (like 2.5V per cell) or it doesn't have a cutoff at all. You really should get a LiPo monitor like the HRPoly-X and land when it goes off at the voltage you have set (mine is set for 3.2V per cell)...don't rely on the ESC cutoff.
