Hallo,

I really do not know very much about the M1A2 - I have read that the M1A2-barrel is build without the "Autofrettage-System" - so my question:

Are there any video`s that show an M1A2 in Irak that fires during he is driving ?

Has anyone a link to such a video ?

Thanks !

From what i can tell from the web, autofrettage is just a manufacturing process to strengthen the barrels of tanks and ship cannons, so i'm not really sure what you're asking about..

As far as videos of tanks firing while moving. Most modern tanks have this ability and have for years. If you want to see videos, I recommend doing a search on www.youtube.com , there are a alot of great tank videos on there.

Hallo Dave,

vielen Dank !

Hallo bhop73,

thanks for your answer !

Normally I am not so much interested in modern tanks But - a few days ago I bought a Leo from Graupner for my father and after buying I started to read a bit about and so I came from the Leo to the common development and then to the M1.

Yes, as far as I know Autofrettage is such a process as you said. The Leo barrel is build with that system and I read that the M1A2 is not build with that. I know different video´s that show the Leo fire while driving and I would be interested in comparing it with the M1A2. Because the Autofrettage-System is important for the balance of the barrel towards the possibility of fire during the drive (but I am really no expert).
As I know the USA and Germany developed in the 1960 or 1970 (?) a common tank prototype. Both used it after for the development for the Leo and the M1. So I would be interested in the System that is used while manufactoring the M1A2 and the result ... thought the easiest way would be to watch some video´s from a deployment in a war and I thought that maybe some interested know good scenes ...

Greetings

The M1 seems to control rear flash and recoil better than the T80.
