Im specifically looking for an AC/DC charger with lipo capabilities. After a few months of searching this is what I have come up with.
The superbrain has a discharge function which i believe is critical in maintaining lipos, however I hear a lot of crap about charging lipos with this one.
Vision peak ultra less fancier. No discharge. Otherwise should be reliable.
Im leaning more toward the superbrain but hesitant. Thanks

Edit: also considering the Swallow 2.

Dischargeing lipos is not necessary.

977 uses a questionable/debatable charge routine.

No idea about the vision, How about a hobbico Elite?

I would recommend just picking up a power supply and grabbing the Duratrax Ice. You'll find that a power supply is very handy in R/C and the Ice is the best charger available in its price range...

Definately , if you can use a dc charger along with any 12 volt power supply it will open up a lot more possibilities.

I have a Vision Peak Ultra and its never given me any problems... Its a very nice charger.
Or if you get a power supply theres also the Triton Jr. Its DC only but the screen is backlit and it discharges and cycles.

PEOPLE KEEP MISTAKING THE 977 FOR THE 969!!!!!!!!

THE 977 CHARGES UP TO 3S LIPO'S JUST FINE! I HAVE ONE! I HAVE LIPO'S!

It was the 969 that had LiPo issues!

The 977 can charge 2 batteries at once (Lipo or other). It can discharge one and charge another. It works great and is easy to use.

However, I have never heard that it is necessary to discharge LiPo's. The charging has to be specific, but there isn't a need to discharge.

Unfortunately, it is true that many people have mistaken the 977 for the 969 or vice/versa. The 969 was little more than a glorified digital timer charger for lipos. It was a dangerous chargeing routine in my opinion (without a voltage cut-off unlike the 977)

U-dud: the hobbico accu-cycle elite looks REALLY good too. Thanks man. Possibly the best choice for an AC/DC unit.

Thank you. I have been saying that since I started using this charger. Maybe now people will get it. And it comes with its own powersupply. Not as intricate as ICE or the Triton, but when going li-po, the need for balancing isnt as extreme as sub c's...especially when using a low voltage cut-off. But, you cant change people and their way of thinking.

Definately get the Swallow 2. I have one of these, the thing is awesome!

supports every battery type out there pretty much, has several cycling functions, adjustable charge and discharge rates, lots of lipo options, plus you can attach the SJ LCB-6C lipo balancer thing to it.

I dont even look at my other chargers anymore. the swallow rocks

Max power in wattage. I want to know the max current at the max voltage multiplied together. It has a 5 amp limit and looks to be a 22-24 volt limit , but probably is not a 120 watt charger. It may be more like a 50,63,90 watt. That's what I want to know.

It does not affect the charge quality, but does affect the time.

An example might be charge a 14 cell battery may only do it at 3 amps rather than the 5 amp max. (this is if it is perhaps a 63 watt)
