This design is on my short list for next building season (gotta finish some i already have started!)
Looks to me as if you could help some of us and if you have Doug LaChance on board, and have tapped the Ziroli website for info,I think you have done all you can do until someone else who has built one comes forward.
Your progress looks great so far to me,also looks like very good building.
Im very curious what you plan regarding power. The engines of choice seem to be G38s,but I wonder if that isnt overkill due to the fact that right now there isnt much choice in the 30cc range at least as far as gassers go.Certainly would like to see a couple of Saito radials,or laser V twins, but OH! the prices, and the fuel cost.
What are you planning for covering and paint?

Thanks Kevin, I think you are the one that got me in touch with Doug, over on Flightlines Forums. He has really been a lot of help.

Right now I'm planning on using G-38's. I asked Doug about using the a Ryobi .31 Conversion engines and he didn' t think they would have enough power. I've seen a couple of guys using them on the 101" B-25's, but this is a little larger than that. My friend just bought 2 new Ryobi weedeaters from a Farm & Fleat Store here that is going out of business for $52 each just for the engines to put in a B-25. I think the conversion kits are about $55 each so that makes for pretty cheap engines.

I'll probably be glassing using Pacer Finishing resin. As for paint, I haven't decided yet. I'm looking at doing a white/red Navy scheme. I don't think I'm up to trying a polished aluminum finish, although they are pretty.

I built one of the first D 18s in 92 and flew it for 7 years in Colo and FL where I retired to. Sold it about 3 years ago and by request from Disney studios MGM I found the plane which had not been flown since I sold it and repurchased for MGM to use in the tv series SHENA. I was paid to crash it in a lake for the final show, which never happened. If you would would like to know more my ph is 352 357 5193. AL
