Status: offline 		"I have got the CAP and did the test flight on a weekend about two weeks ago. About 2 or 3 minutes into the first flight, we heard a big "bang" from the CAP in the air during a right turn. I managed to land it safely. Upon inspecting, we were shocked to discover the whole top covering material on one wing were ripped off !"

While flying mine on Saturday the leading edge covering started to come off (about 50% of the right wing panel) right at the seam. Boy did that make a nice flying plane go bad Couldn't even do a loop - a ton of left rudder and it still pulled right!

Sure made a nice 'buzzing' sound

I have the Cap232g with evo45gx2, JR7202, r790 rec, matchbox for the elevators, jr8411 and 8611a servos, 7.4 lipo for ign bat, and 7.4 lipo with 6volt reg
for rec.. The prop is a NX22x8. The plane is balanced and is ready to fly. This is my first gas. I really like the looks and think it is well made. My question is about the wing covering, I have read and have seen photos of the covering coming off while flying. Is there something I can do to prevent this from happening?

Status: offline 		Where are you guys locating the CG on this bird? At 6" back from the leading edge mine appears to be tail heavy and VERY sensitive on the elevator (at LOW rates - ain't got the guts to try high rates yet).

Status: offline 		I set my CG at about 6.5 in back from the leading edge and did not find it overly pitch sensitive on low rates. I am using 30% expo on the elevator. Contrary to what I have read about this plane I did find it was snappy though. It would easily snap out of a loop on low rates if not very gentle on the elevator. Is this normal, and is there anything I can do fix it? Thanks

It could just be the CG being to far back.. Fly it inverted and see how much elev. you need to keep it level. If it climbs,to tail heavy. Or fly it at 45deg.going vertical go inverted and let go of the sticks it should just do a nice gentle arc. Alot of planes will snap out of a loop if your to hard on the elev.
Try checking the CG flying and adjust it see if that helps..

I now run clear sticky tape along the leading edge of the wing, where the covering materials joined to prevent the upper one from lifting off the seam.
I did another flight last weekend, so far it seems alright.

Status: offline 		If I had to do over again.....I'd place all three servos in the fuse as I had to add dead lead to get the plane to balance (used Evolution 45GT). Engine selection was EXCELLENT - just too light

Status: offline 		I'm just getting back to flying after about a year and a half, I had a small motorcycle accident. This will be my first gas airplane, i guess this will be my first flight in the year and a half. From what I've read this airplane is very forgiving and lands at a walking pace.

I'm just starting the build this week and I've been reading everything I can find on this Cap.

My main question is; What do you mean when you say, "When it's set-up right"? What is this "right set-up" you talk about? Is it something differant than the instruction booklet says?

Status: offline 		I weighed it again and now it weighs 280 oz.= 17 1/2 lbs. Re-Checked my CG and it is about 1/4 ahead of the recommended forward location.Low rates are by the book, high rates as much as I could get out of 'em .

Status: offline 		How did it get to 17lbs? I have a DA50 with stock muffler,pull-pull on the rudder and all batteries under the gas tank. Mine balanced in the middle of the cg range stated in the manual without any weight added. I ended up 15lbs 4oz. Flies great with no tendency to snap when slowed down or when pulling on the elevator in low rates. Horizon is giving these away right now, i think about $327 for the plane in an "attic sale".

AFTER FLEW FOR A YEAR AN H9 EXTRA 260 27%, ( WONDERFUL PLANE) I'M NOW FINISHING A CAP 232G, WITH DA 50CC.
I'VE AN ISSUE ABOUT THE DA STANDOFFS.
I PLAN TO USE 2,5" STANDOFFS, MAKE A HOLE IN THE FIREWALL, AND PUSH BACK THE COWLING.
DO YOU THINK IT'S A GOOD IDEA OR IT'S BETTER THE 3"STANDOFFS ?
CAN I HAVE BALANCE PROBLEMS ?

SORRRY FOR THE GRAMATICS.
