Check out the Skymaster F-16, the landing gear is awesome as well as scale characteristics... Also the new ARF PLUS versions are very nice...

First to the gentleman that PM'd me, you do not accept PM's in return so here is my response:

Hi matt.
Sure you meant closest to 1:6 scale? Not closest to scale in 1:6 size?

quote:

ORIGINAL: matt
Hello,

That is a good question! I would like to have both!! I believe I meant closest in size to 1/6, but still good quality

Thanks in advance,

As for the other responses, thanks very much, I am really not big on the new ARF bandwagon as I really like to build the model myself. I was thinking more like Aviation Design, Avonds, etc, figuring maybe there is a nice european kit I had not heard of......But even so, what are the dimensions of the Skymaster and the JetLegend?

Thanks very much for the responses,

EDIT OK I got the Skymaster info, looking for JL now!

JL Link. No photos up yet.

I'm pretty sure JL will also offer this plane in "kit" form where you do the build yourself. They have done it for all of their other kits so keep an eye out.

Cheers

Jeremy.

Matt,
You may already know, but the AD and Avonds are 1/6.8. I've also been wanting a scale 1/6 F16 for a long time. I dont think the Top Gun one is available. Theres been an awesome 1/5 available for a while http://www.jetteam.nl/ Really expensive and really nice and I believe this is the same one David Shulman told me that he flew and said it flew awesome.
It seems like theres going to a bunch of 1/6 scale F16ARFs coming out very soon. The Skymaster looks pretty nice and he claims its very light and it comes with scale gear. These are going to be hard to beat even though they are ARFs. Only problem would be that they couldn't compete, even if they are scale, because they are ARFs.

Hi Matt.

I know that Manfred Eberhard from Austria has developed a 1:6 scale F-16. It was being sold by Jetteam Liebetrau, but is now being sold by Air-Tech in Germany. Follow the link http://www.jet-team-liebetrau.de/Produkte/F16/index.htm to Liebetrau's page and then to Air-Tech. The Air-Tech site has not been updated since Feb.2006, so it is not there yet.

I saw the F-16 fly at Jetpower 2006, and it was quite impressive. Find a video on THIS PAGE.

Hey Sparkesy,

The F16 looks good. I have the tigermeet scheme version and it looks great too. I am going to install a cross-brace on the forward wing spar bulkhead in addition to reinforcing that former where the main strut recesses are cut out. I reckon that area nees reinforcing given the weight of the model and the apanking it is likely to get!

I will show Paul what I mean in a couple of weeks and you can see what you think. Thanks again for the help with the F18 figures....mine is getting its maiden done in a couple of weeks....can't wait!

Kind regards,

Craig.

Hi Scott,

Good point, that makes a Jet legend look good as it can be purchased as a kit. I am going for more info from them. Maybe Tam has something coming as well, I will check.

Now I remember the Avonds and the AD were smaller, as for the 1/5th scale if I thought I could get anything that big from Europe I would go for the Liebetrau F-14!

Thanks,

Matt, try Eddie Lozano. I don't remember what size it was, but it was big. I'm not sure where he is on the project anymore either since he started on the Outlaw (formerly know as the "BSJ"). It wouldn't hurt to try him and I definitely know you would have to build that one!

Tam will be flying his 1/6th scale F-16 at Buttonwillow from what he told me when I picked up my A-4 Kit. His will have functional airbrakes as well and Im sure he will offer a kit version as he does with most of his models.

Hey Tom/Matt, I have only a couple of flights on mine the maiden and a couple of test flights after that. No flying issues at all after very little trimming. I turned down the throws some to as the roll rate was a little high. Plus did some tweeking on the brake valve but other than that its going to be a good flying model. I believe the scale is 1/6,8 what ever that means but at 72 inches long its a nice size, just right for my trailer

Thanks

A true 1/6th scale F-16 C will be 98 inches long with a 65 inch wingspan, for those interested.

How come the orange colour on the Tiger cheeme on the ARF?
Yellow is the correct one.... And the original is a F-16 A Plus, not a C version..
