I cycle mine every now and then, but ballistic told me to charge it at .5 amps if you can, or a max of 1 amp if you are in a hurry and they recommended to let it discharge naturally (is use it all the way down). If you are going to cycle it, do it at a discharge rate of .5 amps...I do mine about once every month or two

Hey guys, I read through most of the thread, and I have been looking to get a new radio soon, maybe for Christmas?? I just wanted to ask a few questions regarding batteries and charging them. I have a Dynamite Mega 1 charger that I used a long time ago with an electric that I had. Soon after that I switched to nitro because I hate batteries and charging them, and I love nitro. Anyway, what do you guys mean by cycling batteries and peaking them out? I don't know about this stuff, I just want to know the basics, like what I have to do and what I have to get. Will my charger be decent enough for charging a transmitter or receiver pack? Right now I use a wall charger that charges up both my receiver and transmitter over night. I read that charging in the USB jack isn't good to do for the first charge, so how should I charge it?
Thanks everyone in advance.

Not familiar with that charger, but if it is a peak charger, all that means is that the charger will detect the peak charge and stop charging (basically). Cycling the batteries meaning charging them up to peak, then discharging them (with the charger), then charging them back up..it conditions the batteries and helps them last longer. For the React, you need a charge adaptor to plug into your charger leads to charge the react throught the side charge port

Not a good idea to charge the battery while in the radio as if the voltage even with it turned off gets over 6 volts can fry the radio. Found out the hard way and now only charge the battery out of the radio.

hot sure why that would be the case...scott and Karlton (both from nomadio) recommend charging it with a field charger through the charge jack? At least they used to?? That i the only way I have been doing mine for 9 months now and have no issues. I am running the ballistic batteries 2700 mah pack and it maxes out around 5.9 volts or so

Karlton is no longer with Nomadio and has not been with them now for some time. All so Kevin is not with them any more. I just sent my radio to Scott because of this problem and he told me best to charge it out of the radio. Just got my radio back this past Thursday. Scott is the one that told me even with the radio off if the voltage gets over 6 volts it will fry the mother board. Guess what I am living proof.

Call Scott at 215-854-8432 and see what he recommends.

hmm..well, whatever the case, I ain't callin anyone....that is what I was told months ago when I bought the radio, and that is how I have charged it for the past 9 months, and it still works fine..if I have been lucky, then so be it..I will take it and I will keep on taking it...even though I have had no issues with the radio (although I did just have a transceiver go out on me), it is something like this that makes no sense...why have the charge port on there if they do not recommend using it? It boggles my mind...

That is the same thing I asked Scott! I have had my radio for all most 4 months and had to send it back 3 times.

The charger I have is has a timer on it. It charges at 1 amp. Is this good enough to charge the battery pack, or should I stick with the trusty wall charger that charges the receiver batteries and the radio batteries.
Thanks

I all most forgot to post back but Cheap Battery Pack.com replaced my TX pack and it holds a charge longer then the old one.

The built in fail safe on my Nomadio React saved the life of my Hyper ST today. I was on the street testing out a dynamite 053 pipe at full throttle and my receiver packs goes dead. My truck was going full wood into oncoming traffic. Luckily, the failsafe kicked in and the truck slowed down so the incoming car could avoid "killing" my Hyper. It was all my fault. I new my battery pack was really low, but I ran my truck anyway. Thank God for the Nomadio React. It is an awesome radio.

You did not check the voltage of your RX on your TX and your TX did not go vibrating and making noise? Mine if the battery starts to get low warns me long before it dies.
