Hi guys,

I often look at the Airplane classifieds (under Racing) and have never seen a used Q-40 RTF with Nelson/Jett power for sale?

How come??

Do you guys keep them forever (or until they crash)?

Just wondering,

Cobra

I have no clue as to why you are not finding any used Q-40 airplanes ,but I can tell you that I would never ever sell any of my birds. Sometimes I get tired of flying them but I have enough sens to know that they cost a lot to replace so I keep them till I die. It,s like Marlin Brando said They will Get my gun when they pry it from my cold dead hands.

Looking for something? Maybe a used Polecat for about $800... just add your receiver.

Most of them are sold to other local racers, typically to get someone new into racing.

You do see them on ebay once and a while, and Randy always seems to have something for sale.

I knew $800 for a Chuck Bridge built airplane, servos, tank, AND Nelson was too good to be true!

Just saw this ad this morning if your interested. Looks like a good deal to me, although I have not seen the plane.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Q40-pylon-racer-Proud-Bird-by-Lyle-Larson_W0QQitemZ300047947826QQihZ020QQcategoryZ19164QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Theres also a very nice looking Formula One listed on that site.

One possible reason for not seeing Q-40s in the classifieds is that some of them can be difficult to ship once built.

Finding a box that's large enough for a 1-piece 56" wing plus a fuse with tail feathers glued in is not easy. It would be somewhat costly to ship and insure, too.

Actually the cost is not that bad. Probably between $20 and $30 if you use fedEx ground. It also makes it better if the airplane has a plug-in stab.

Personally, I think the main reason is that the typical sport flyer is not interested in paying what these planes are worth. How many inquiries did you get on your little mike, Mike?

My guess is few legitaimate offers, if any, although that is a very good buy.

Well I posted a Q40 for sale ready to fly and received exactly zero inquiries. Maybe I should start a new thread.

All - I have seen Mike's racer and it is truly gorgeous, built straight and true, and is ready to go. I should have taken some pics of it at the Fort Bend, TX race so you can see the color scheme.

Mike - maybe posting some pics of it will help...

I've never seen a RTF (i.e. with Jett/Nelson, electronics, etc.) Q-40 in the classifieds, I don't see one currently there.
