Here it is! I too have heard about the b5, b6 and b8 chargers/balancers, apparantly the b5 has the least problems, i was going to get the b8 which also charges a123 but they have worse balancing issues. I didnt want to spend $150 on a charger, see how it goes, I'll look up the resistor mod.

Is brushless that much better? absolutely no doubt about. Less maintenance, better runs times, more power, a larger range of motors, better ESC's, no skimming of armatures, 5mm pinion shafts and the list goes on. If you want to rock crawl there is a motor to suit everyone's tastes if you want to blow nitros off there is a motor to suit, if you want to run at the top of touring cars there is a motor to suit, if you want to off road there is a motor to suit if you want to bash there is a motor to suit and the list goes on. You can buy ESC's to run brushed or brushless with either Nimh or lipos, what more could a boy want?

Re Imax chargers. I have always had a B6 in my arsenal of chargers and gear and I have never had a problem with it. It has always charged, balanced, discharged and cycled Nicd, Nimh and 2s and 3s lipos without a problem. Some will say that the tolerances are too broad, I don't think so, I find them to be quite good. We as people are funny creatures, so will comment on something they have never owned and some love what they own. You will find that some will give you voltage readings etc without even knowing how to use a multi meter, when to take the readings and what they mean and they also expect a charger and multi meter to give you the same readings without knowing how a charger works and how batteries work. You could buy a Chev and it's great I could buy one and it could be a lemon, that's LIFE.

If anyone wants to see brushless in action just jump on youtube, it full, look for mamba max, 3s lipo, or check out this rustler, its insane!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AsY-x_iArI
he runs the mamba max 5700 with 3s lipo 11.1v, ill be running the 4600 with the same power source. I was going for the 5700 but the 4600 is supposed to be better for bonzers!

does that mean the imax chargers are a bit of a risk? i dont want to get a lemon, & i guss there is no way of testing them, ive been reading a bit some people say thay have no problems, but some people say u can replace a clutch pressureplate without maching the flywheel. yeah shure it works but will it last as long?

im tossing up against the imax b5 & the e-STATION BC6 Digital Charger from reviews im leaning to the BC6 & it comes with a mains power plug/lead, just with a quick look on ebay for a b5 & mains lead u are looking at about $100 including postage & about $169 all up for the BC6 is it worth the extra $69?

I would always go for a charger that is capable of charging all types of batteries, can charge 6s, has balance built in, discharge function and a screen that shows what has happened and what is going on I don't use mains supply at all I always use a 12v deep cycle 93amp sealed battery. We take the battery to all our race meets and it runs a power distribution box with 5/30amp capable ports. That runs all our charges, the dyno, cooling fans etc, there is normally at least 3 of us using it. When we come home we put the battery in the workshop and on a charger and charge all the last lot of batteries that we used at the meet and top up all the others

humm still not to shure what to get?
i guss thay both charge all batterys, the BC6 "it can charge up to 16 cells of NiCd/NiMH and 6 series of Lithium batteries with maximum current of 5.0A." that sound cool & "PC based analysis using USB communication""For technical expert, BC6 offers PC based program can analysis the characteristic of the battery by USB port. It shows a graph of voltage, current, capacity and temperature curves. It also shows the individual voltage of each cell in the Lithium battery pack" wow problary over kill for me now, but might come in handy in the future.

oh oh oh well me tax refund is on the way, maby i should just bite the bullet & get the BC6
