Well, I have a short post under my picture how I did it.
I will elaborate a little.

After you've prepped your body for painting:

Lay your Shelf Liner (SL) down square with the body, and flat. You can find the square shelf liner at any wal-mart or hardware store. Try to stay away from the puffy stuff, but it will work. You will have to spray straight at it and not at an angle, as it will blur your edges. Don't use drywall tape for the CF effect. That is better used for grill, or mesh like effects.

I have a bottle of custom mixed paint that I keep on hand for my CF jobs. I mix 1/4 oz of faspearl silver, with two drops of faspearl charcol, and two drops of copper and shake it up. I then back the whole job with faspearl charcol.

Now the painting begins.
Make sure your SL is in position, and spray the lighter of the two colors first, this is the custom mixed stuff. If you spray the light color second, with the mixture of paints that i use, the light color is way to bright. Try to lay the light color thick enough that you don't have to come back with a second coat, and remember to try and spray straight and perpendicular to your body.
Let that dry for a minute or two without moving the SL. If your using a dual action brush, lightly dust across the painted area with only air.
Once the SL looks like the paint has dried, pull up the SL, and lay the Faspearl Charcol down. Two or three coats, and boom, You Got It!

Status: offline 		Yes, you can make anything look like CF, and with spray cans too... just find the right color paints, and have your shelf liner handy.

N20torious, what base paints are you using? Lacquer, water base? Copper shouldn't be too hard to find... I will look for a couple of links for you.

Im working on a marble effect, I got the trans purple and a trans razberry (faskolor), but the silver is just that, silver, and its in a rattle can (lhs was out of faskolor silver). With the rattle can, can I still pull off the marble look?
Then the carbon fiber type look, was going to use black and blue and a black and red, doing 2 bodies here. Would those colors work for the effect?

Status: offline 		The only concern I have with the rattle can is that is urethane/lacquer based. You can spray water based paints ontop of lacquer/urethane, but not viceversa without any adverse affects.
The water based paints are so easily manipulated, even after they dry. That's why I hate faskolor paints, but they work well when all you have to paint in, is your house. And you have nothing but water base paints.

How did you like that cold spell that came through last night? -1, wind chill -20, I don't suppose we will be doing any painting outside today.

So answering your primary question, it may or may not work... you will have to try a scrap piece somewhere. You will have to lay that silver down thick enough to be able to get your saran wrap in place before it dries, and it may eat away at the faslucent candy base that you're using. I would practice on a 2 liter bottle before you lay it down on a body.

As far as your color combo with the carbon fiber, it should work. I always try a 'crash run' on a scrap piece of lexan (wheel cut out, or bottom cut out off the same body). I always cut my bodies out before I paint them. I've got pretty large hands, and its little easier to maneuver that way, plus I will have scrap pieces of lexan to play with if I'm in question with something. It depends what red and blue you're using. If they are darker spray them last and back it with white, that will help them pop out. If they're just the basic red and blue, it doesn't really matter.
If it were me, using black as the dark of the two colors, I would spray that first, then the lighter red or blue second. I would back all of it with white after I was done.

not totaly carbon fiber "Looking" but simular effect...
out of the hundreds i have these are the Quckest i had already loaded on the o'l photo bucket thing..
buti'll post some more "Realistic" "Aroespace Looking Carbon Fiber"

I did order faskolor so all my paint would be the same kind. Im going to give it a shot, might even do the picture glue thing, my printer is a better drawer then I.
Thanks for the ideas and the tips. Oh yeah, the cold spell is hanging around here, 14 degrees with a wind chill of 4.

everyone does....
just remember some projects take a little more time....to be honest...the painting is the easy part....preping the "Job" is the hardest part....
kinda like "Picasso" his stuff looked kinda different...but many admired because of his "Unique" ways of portraying his paintings....
and to be honest some of the simple ones i personally think look better...
sometimes less is more...
just hope some of our stuff can help with some ideas...

oh, the skulls that was on a Rear fender to a Chopper with a big 380 tire....

OH!!! , on the fastkolor paint be sure to use the correct reducer
i would recommend the paints from AutoAir parma buys there stuff from that main suplier and just re-sell it in it's "Raw" form....(it is why it is thick like a milkshake)
those are used "Primarly in Air Guns" not airbrushes may will argue this???

get it from AutoAir at: www.Autoaircolors.com the containers are bigger and cost Wayyyyyy less.....and they have paints designed for "Airbrushing" but use with the 4300 series reducers...
we use the same when we get customers requesting certian colors that request we use water based paints for certian applications.....
also a VERY BIG MISCONCEPTION they are "NOT NON-TOXIC" the binder in the paint is...it is a "Water based Carrier" the Pigment is not....so still wear some kind of masking even a paper one!!!
so yes unlike many Lacquers and "Some PolyUreathanes" if you get it all over your "Skin" it is
"Non-Toxic" but do not Breathe it.. !!!!
so be safe Keep painting !!!!!!

Status: offline 		What body would look good if it was only carbon fiber, like the Ferari posted earlier? I was thinking something like a Lancer or Skyline; what do you think? And also, would full CF look good on a 1/18th scale body, or would it seem too big and awkward?

Status: offline 		An all CF dirt oval truck would look cool. I agree with you RGX, prep is a b!tch. And once your body is ready to go, the fool who used the air brush last didnt clean it. My bad. I go through more bottle that way.
My truck is liquid masked off, and part way cut out (flame design) hope to start painting this afternoon. Getting the hobby knife to fallow the lines is just time consuming. If it comes out looking half way decent I'll post some pics.

I was going for the marble look. Got the trans purple down, then the pearl sivler, and backed it with white. I didnt go back and doulbe check the backing color, faspearl black.
Long story short, I have a nice bright purple dirt oval truck.
Going to try again, d@mn the luck.....lol

Does the drywal tape work as well as the shelf liner stuff I have done the shelf stuff with rattle cans. I do 20/20 paint jobs at 20 mph or 20 feet they look awesome LOL.

Also my cousin is looking into an airbrush anyone willing to give advice on which one he should get. He is researching to get the right one the first time.

Also RGX Blade thanks for the paint info. I would appreciate you input on these questions. Not saying others input is not appreciated or wanted of course I want many opinions.
