Do you get the magizine? If not i would pick one up, it is the january issue. If you cant find one and want one, shoot me a PM.

The e-savage is faster and tougher than the emaxx, stock.

What makes you say that? I still haven't decided on either truck yet so spill it.

I dont have a source but I've talked to people that have had both of them and they say that the stock e-zilla is definately faster, and that they have had less problems with their e-zilla/savage than with their maxx's. I guess the motors/esc are just better in the esavage.

After thoroughly researching the exact same thing last winter, I had the exact same results - on the forums anyway. The E-zilla is supposed to be a bit faster, but a lot tougher than a stock E-MAXX. So I bought it. I ended up selling it though, but that was just cuz electric wasn't my thing. It was OK(with good batteries very fast, and really pretty tough..), but I just need a screaming nitro...

I'm just going to get my nephew the E Maxx for Christmas simply because parts are everywhere for it and it has a proven track record. From my own research I cannot say that about the Hot Bodes E Zilla...errr.....HPI E Savage.

Everything I read about the E-MAXX says it's a money-pit. Not so with the E-zilla.

I am not sure if money pit is the word, but investment would be. They all have thier weak spots, some more than others. I ran my e-maxx today for the second time and i all ready am thinking of selling it. The rear bumper mounts and tie rods are little weaker than my taste. I rememeber the same issue on my t-maxx until i got the TI skid plates.
From the parts layout, i can see how the savage is stronger on the outside. I still have concerns on the drive train.....

This thread is a good find. I'm going to get an MT after Xmas some time, and am not sure between the E-Savage or E-Maxx. I was thinking Stampede, but am now thinking against that, as I'd rather go all-out for 4WD fun. I love 4WD.

I'll keep an eye on this thread, though.

Is it true that parts are harder to get for the Savage compared to the Maxx?

Hi,

I am new to RC and just have a couple of questions here. Firstly, I am thinking about getting an Ezilla because from the reviews I have read, they seem to be pretty good and tough and they are on special price at the moment!! I was thinking about getting a Stampede before. I also had a look on the HPI's site for E-Savage, other than the body, it looks exactly the same as Ezilla and they are more expensive at the moment. The only thing I don't like about Ezilla is its body, I prefer a real monster truck body like the E-Savage body! And that brings up my first question: Can you just buy a HPI Savage body to fit it onto it??

My second question is: Since E-Savage is basically the same as Ezilla, does that mean parts are interchargeable between them? How hard is it to get replacement parts for them?

Any help would be appreciated.

Not to promote another brand in the HPI forum or anything, but some of you guys might take a look at the Kyosho Twin Force too. It's a bigger truck than the other two, which some people like. The Twin Force is a pretty neat truck. Unless you are planning to race it or jump tall buldings in a single bound, the solid axle TF would be about 10x the fun of either the E-Sav or the Emaxx. It looks more like a real monster truck too. About the only drawback is support. Most HS won't carry Kyosho parts so it's online only, and parts are kind of expensive.

Not trying to convince anyone to buy it, just offering up an alternative.

my twin broke a lot of axle housings but was a good rc. I liked the closed elect box in the winter.

My horrible LHS actually has one in stock...

Think I'd take the E-Sav though. Kyosho is.... um, I don't know. How to say it?... Something about Kyosho just seems very "un-bashery", to coin a um, phrase...

Any help would be appreciated.

You'll find that nearly everything is the same part on both trucks.

I'm working on getting this article finished up and ready for proofing. Here's a quick shot from a bashing session at the local track after a hard rain!
