I have heard that it is a good idea, when using 8 or so digital servos, to have a seperate battery pack for the reciever and servos. I have used 2 recievers in the past with seperate packs to spread the load. I would like to use a single receiver but have heard that the digitals can draw so much juice that the receiver can not put out a good signal ie glitchs. How do I wire this or is there a product that will do it for me? Appreciate any input.

Use a serial bus.
My large models have two batteries connected to the receiver. Only the signal and negative leads from the servos are connected and the positive leads are all individually connected on a solid strip of of the most conductive material available - gold plated brass to which the positive leads of the batteries are also connected. Keep batteries as close to servos as possible and in large models batteries can be installed one or two per servo.
There is no substitute for Amp's - better more batteries than the use of useless lead.
See also the Hitec advice regarding the use of high current servos and simply use a 'Y' lead.

(You may need to download Adobe Acrobat language update file =

to read entire two pages.)
In fact the Hitec servo manual should be read by all those who use any servo as it clears many misconceptions heard regarding applications and which grease to use on gears etc.

There has been lots of chatter about this recently. From what I have heard from JR and Futaba, is that the receiver can handle the full load of all digital servos that it is designed for. Ie, an 8 channel receiver can handle all digital servos without any issues at all. No need to split the load with separate packs, which also reduces the overall reliability of the system. You would then have two switches and two batteries, or 4 components instead of 2, and any one of them could shut down the entire system.

Depending on the size of the airplane, you would be better off with a single receiver and redundant battery setup, or going to dual receivers. You so much more reliability, and still solve the problem of load sharing.

All most all IMAC pilots I now either run a single receiver and dual 6v batteries or 7.2v lithiums, or dual receivers each with their own batteries and switches. Of all the pilots I have met at all the giant scale events I have gone to over the last few years, I have yet to meet one that is using separate power for each system. Mainly, its because it is much less reliable, and the need to split the load isn't there. If you use 6v packs, take care with your wiring, and use dual batteries, you won't have any issues with planes up to 40% or so. After that, there is little real world history to reflect on.

Here are some pointers to past conversations which discuss various methods and ideas.
