Status: offline 		Added some wing ribs to the wing but still need to add some infront of the spar where the coro bends up. Its starting to look good.



Glued into the spar.


It makes a nice airfoil, but the LE is being pulled up like i said.

Status: offline 		I admire all the effort you are putting into this project, but the ribs are not really needed, and only adds more weight. If I understand it right, the top and bottom of your wing is 4mil. Have you thought about using 2mil on top. 2 mil coro is not that expensive from Harbor sales. Before I found 2mil locally, I ordered a few sheets of 4'X8' 2mil from them, and they cut it in 24"x48" pieces for a minimal charge. It doesn't show it as an option on there site, but it didn't when I ordered it either. Just call them and see if they can help you out. Not to mention, using a 2 mil top will lighten the wing up a little more.

Look at the attached pics! (please excuse all the dust inside the wing ) The wing has no ribs, and the airfoil came out pretty nice. The flutes run chordwise on the top 2mil skin as well as the on the bottom 4mil skin. The ailerons are sandwiched between both pieces. Because two pieces of 2 mil are require for the top of a wing this size, just use a 2mil wrap to cover the seam in the middle of the wing.

Status: offline 		After going back and looking at your pics, I can see why you are having to add ribs. Is there a reason why you ran the flutes spanwise on the bottom? I could understand it, if you were including the ailerons as part of the bottom wing, like with a DPS wing, but I see you have glued individual ailerons to the bottom part of the wing (inside the wing).

Status: offline 		Well we did look into using 2 mm coro at first but no place carried it locally and we would have to order it. It ended up being cheaper just to get the 4 mm coroplast. The reason we didnt just use one piece for the bottom of the wing and ailerons is cuz we originally thought having 2 layers of coro would add strength and so we did it on the middle piece of coro. As for an update, we have sort of come to a stand still on production. Currently all we need is servos for the wing and rest of the plane untill we can finnish it and that is ending up costing a lot. As soon as we get the wing and rest of the plane complete we will give an update.

Status: offline 		For a future project of this size, consider making the wing with all 4 mil, run the flutes chordwise, and just score the leading edge, similar to the way 2 mil is used in smaller planes. For the chord you appear to have, the 4 mil would probably give you a good airfoil form. For the bottom, you could double the core, one layer flutes cordwise, and the second layer flutes span wise. This way you'd probably be able to avoid using wing ribs to keep the bottom from pulling up.

Having the bottom edge pull up is normal, and you end up with a semi-symmetrical design, which isn't a bad air-foil. Maybe not quite as much lift as a flat bottom, but it does have some advantages.

Status: offline 		Its been a while since I've done anywork on the plane. I've been busy with school and work for the past few months. I started work about a week ago on the plane and its making progress. Both vertical, and horizontal stabs. are attched, the main gear is attached, and support bars holding all 3 fuse sections together. I still have to come up with an idea to attach the wing and have it detachable because I cant get a plane 8'x6' in the truck to get to the field.

Flap and aileron servos are on still need to get the extention cord to get the rudder and elevator connected.

Things left to do:

-Attach wing
-nose gear
-radio gear
-engines

Shouldnt be to long untill she flies I cant wait to get it running and just taxi it around on the street for now. I'll get some pix up a little later tonight

It's way more unstable than I was hoping for it to be though, I'm going to increase the angle of attack on the wing and see if that dose anything. We have two flights on video so as soon as I get them uploaded to the comp I'll post them.

Aileron reflex has helped calm down sensitive Spads.
It adds stability and is easy to try.
