What I've seen from this new 3 port R-spec,

I used 2 diffrent pipes,

A low end

and an 086

The low end pipe gave a nice crackle and a quick power on the blips, but top end felt really choked, like the RPMs just hit a wall,

on the 086, didn't have as much quick low power but the repsonse was smoother, but the top end still lacks, again RPMS just hit a wall,

I am not impressed with the 3 port R.... i am actually curious why Go even made one... it doesnt have the power of either the 5 or the 7 port, yet it costs just as much.......... most people are reporting the 3 port is somewhat of a dog....

Id agree, its bottom is okay, but it really has no top,

I go from driving a sirio in a truggy that has more weight and bigger tires and it still out powers the R-spec by miles,

Luckly they changed our track around so the r-spec works fine, but I wouldn't buy it again.

Try the 0801 pipe from go tech for the 3 port r. Go tech made the 3r for a more linear powerband like a v-spec. And the 3 port r is actually cheaper then the 5 or 7 ports.

I really like my 5 port though. Low end is insane in my buggy. and i managed to outrun a moded O.S. .30 on a 200 foot straight that was also in a buggy. He couldnt control it worth a damn on the corners and jumps though

well I'm running in a massive mods 3 port R stage 5 modded and its seems to have as much power as the 7 port I also own...haven't got to the point of opening it wide yet but will report as soon as the rain stops and play resumes....

I would not put the words 3R and VSpec in the same sentence.... the V-Spec absolutely rips on the Go engines, all of them ( as long as its a 2007 Spec).............there were rumours the 3 port was to compete with the V-Spec, but its applaes and oranges comparing those 2 mills.

I think the 3R and the VSpec are both good engines. I did it, I put both of them in the same sentence. In the right hands either engine could win a race. In the wrong hands either one is uncontrollable. I own several engines ( not as many as some , and for the price a slightly modified 3R runs pretty well. I do have to say this is the best idling engine I have ever had. The only time it has died is from being upside down for 30 sec on a track with only 3 turn marshals (when every one is running almost every class, there is no one left to turn marshal, anyway complaint for another post someday), by the time the air bubble hit the carb it was to big to keep fuel flowing. Really for the price you can't beat the performance you can get out of the 3R.

Took my car out to the track last nite. Has about 8 gas tanks through it now. Ran pretty well, except for the last couple of gas tanks, when I was leaning it out a bit. The temp shot all the way up to 280.
Before the last couple of tanks it was running in the 240 range. Was going about half throttle most of the time.

Is something wrong with it??
thanks!!

Check for air leaks. Might be causing it to lean out too much.

Will do, thanks!!

Was at the track last night. Was able to start it up without having to heat it up. Just loosen the glow plug a bit.

The temps were about 220-240, but still lots of smoke and groggy at the start. Its about half a turn from the stock setting.
Should I just keep on leaning it out more??

Yes you can lean it out more as long as you have good temps and a good trail of smoke. Just keep checking your glow plug. If it is real wet looking, you are rich, if it is bone dry and the filiment is grey and distorted your to lean.

Id lean the low speed out some,

Don't worry about temps to much,

If it has good performance, and you see smoke, and no lean bogs let it rip
