I'm chompin' at the bit and would love to fly Grace this fall/winter, but Eroc, are you sure you want to give up your place in line?

I don't mind flying Grace in the winter. Cold is not a real issue here (I've used a propane torch to preheat .049's in the cold before), its the winds we have here. I should be able to take her after the first week in January if no body else wants to fly in the cold. I think Half-A-Hec may be down here around the third week of January so there could be a couple of us fly it here, weather permitting.

How well would Grace do in 15+ mph winds?

As the boys in the Carolina Crew can say and Ptulmer will attest, Grace can be flown in windy conditions. But, I have always believed that a person should never fly in conditions that they are uncomfortable with! Better to wait than rebuild.

So if you want to 'pass' on your turn, then I think you could contact a person further down the list and switch with them. That way they get to fly sooner and you don't have to fly in less than ideal conditions. (it is fun to fly in ideal conditions!) Just let me know of your 'switch' and I will adjust the roster.

And since we are talking about cold, I dont think this link has been posted in this thread. Here is me and Grace's prototype last winter. This was posted last year in her build thread...

edit: link pulled until format issue is resolved

Grace does just fine in the wind. It limits what you can perform with it, but it's a friggin' blast if you've never flown R/E. Cold, now that's another matter... With good conditions and better thumbs, there is a lot of potential. BTW, read the box and make sure the throws are set to recommended. It's not twitchy one single bit that way. I've considered building one and considering my schedule only the good ones get considered!

I appreciate the input. I've flown my DNU in winds that almost had me going backwards, but that's my plane and if I crash it, well no biggie. My concern was that I was holding the plane too long, gumming up the works, etc. They're calling for decent weather and wind tomorrow, so perhaps I'll sneak out over lunch and give her a toss.

ProBroJoe - Please PM me your address so I can send it to you next.

Well, actually... that'd be the perfect time as I'm taking and extended holiday and that would give me plenty of opportunities to fly 'er and git'er moving onto the next person...

All I can say is that Bipe Flyer had better contact me so I can head out to his field to share in the fun....

Any guesses on when it'll make it out to the west coast?

Hey guys, GRACE is on its way to Weathervane. I wasn't able to get her on the field or in the air due to weather, or my inability to deal with it - guess I'd make a lousy mail deliverer...

Mike - Can you add me to the tail end of the list? I'd like a shot at flying her in "better" weather.

Thanks, I will keep a look out for it. The weather for this week end does not look good for flying.

Great, 6 to 8 weeks means we'll be belly landing on the flooded grass or thin snow. Good thing the Sure Start incorporates a SNORKEL......

Hi all,
GRACE arrived today. All I can say is WOW. What a cool little plane. I do not think I will be able to fly her untill this Saturday. That will give me a few days to get her ready. I'm hoping To fly Saturday and ship on Monday. (weather permiting)
