Wait a minute! I was so distracted by the beer I think I missed something. Is that a Salamander? Is it a kit, ARF or scratch built?

It is a scratchbuilt He-162 Salamander. I originaly designed it for a RK-49 fan with a Cox TeeDee 0.051 but it turned out to be too big and complex so I am comverting it to electric. I will have to make a new airframe if I want to fly the glow powered fan.

I had a really good time flying Grace and I can report that she is still doing fine with no signs of wear. The engine was going strong and the plane will now go to NorfolkSouthern.

I took a picture that obviously prove that Grace went North of the border...

I'd find it more authentic if there were a hockey stick in the pic.

Could have included my hockey stick in the picture. It was probably in my car as we use them for golf in the summer over here

Cool project !!

I´ve been following this thread since a long time ago. It´s good to see Grace in a good shape and flying in different locations every time.

Actually, it just got here in Michigan. It was sent as a certified parcel that I had to sign. I was in Ohio when it came in, and I got the notice in my mailbox. I went down, and picked it up today. Having opened up the box, everything looks to be in perfect shape, except for the elevator linkage, and I think that was unhooked for shipping. I have yet to figure how I'm going to hold the battery and receiver in place, but I'm sure that won't be too difficult to figure out. I'm hoping to have it up and flying this weekend. I'll keep everybody posted.

I've run short on time today so I haven't got a chance to read all the middle pages, just the first few and last few, so I dont realy know how its trip has been so far, other than is still in great shape. Still in the US though, does it apear to be jumping an ocean soon? That would be cool.

We have tried to ship it overseas but the postage and associated charges has run into the hundreds of dollars. Might as well buy it its own seat on United Airways! So far we have been restricted to keeping it within US and Canada just for reasons of expense.

Part of the magic of this project, however, is getting Grace to travel the world. Now I know my wife travels overseas once in a great while for business. I was thinking that perhaps with all the great people of this forum that SOMEBODY should be going overseas SOMEWHERE. Or maybe a handoff could be made at an RC Expo, or maybe a company would be willing to sponsor it... Whaddaya think guys? Any ideas?
