do you have an RC flight simulator :if you dont already have one search yahoo for FMS flight simulator

2nd is your flying space big enough to allow you to rotate the heli over for inverted flight without fear of hitting anything
or anyone including yourself

3rd can you afford the crash kit and new 3d blade pack and anyother broken parts you may need

if you answered yes to all three of those questions and dont mind breaking things then give it a try your only
going to learn it by trying it you can do it on a sim alot and its free to crash but eventually youll have to try
it in real life and well your probably going to break something the first.. 10 tries lol.. but thats what this hobby
is about learning doing spending money :my favorite quote "you dont get into this hobby to save money"

yossi185,
Welcome to RCU! I agree with turbotb0205, use a simulator and try new maneuvers on it before you try it with the real helicopter. It may not be exactly the same, but it will give you a feel for what you are trying to do. The best simulators can react almost as well as a real model, but those sims are expensive. However, when you add up the cost of crashes, the sim doesn't seem so expensive after all. I first learned to control a R/C heli on the free FMS simulator. After flying the real models, FMS is not too realistic, but it will teach you the basics of hand-eye coordination and the basic hover. When you are ready to 3D your Blade, make sure it is set up correctly. The pitch and throttle curves will be different than what you used to hover with. Find someone who is experienced in helicopters to help you set up the Blade correctly and perhaps fly it so you can see what your model can and cannot do. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Jesse

You are correct that you won't know how it reacts until you try it. I assume that you are using the transmitter and radio gear that came with the Blade? It should already be set up with the pitch / throttle curves so that it won't jump erratically when you switch from norm to idle up. This is when it would be good to have someone with a lot of helicopter experience fly yours to see how it reacts when you switch to idle up. I don't think you'll notice much of a difference when you switch to idle up. You will have more negative pitch on the blades in idle up, so be carefull about cutting the throttle too much. If you cut the throttle too much and too fast below half stick, the blades will go into negative pitch and will drive the heli fast towards the ground. In normal mode, (hovering), there isn't much, if any, negative pitch programmed into the transmitter. In idle up, there might be as much negative pitch as there is positive pitch!
You must be gentle on the throttle/collective stick and not over-control.

if you've never flip the idle up, i'd strongly suggest you do some fff and stall turns (i don't consider stall turns 3Ding) in idle up, to get the feel, you'll just love it. you shouldn't flip the idle up switch only to do lets say a roll or loop, basically, ff is much better when in idle up. i don't have a sim but i can do almost symmetrical loops now and rolls loosing quite alot of altitude, wat i really hate is the little power the blade has, i crashed after a loop serveral times because even though the heli is upright, it still is going down with full throttle. so beware of that, in real life, get a REALLY big space, and climb up so high, and just flip it over and reduce throttle, and continue to hold back elevator and add throttle when it's upright, if you've got 50ft, then your good. after the first one, you won't be so afraid to try the 2nd/3rd ones and you'll just keep on doing it.
