Status: offline 		Just got a new E-station bc5. It charges up to 5 amps.
I assume 5-6 amps is sufficient, but how many watts? I'll
probably get a computer power supply, but I want to make
sure I get the right one. Any suggestions?

Status: offline 		I also noticed the bc-5 says 12-15v input.
How can you charge 5v li-po or 14 1.2v cells with 15v?

Status: offline 		The most recent INTEL Design Guide specification recommended capacity on the 12V2 rail is 13.0 amp continuous for a 300 watt ATX power supply. Given the variation in supply designs and lack of industry wide controls in manufacturing, I would consider a 300 watt supply a minimum purchase. This gives some leeway in mislabeled output capacity and also gives you some growth room should you decide to charge at a higher rate with a different charger.

Input ratings for your charger state working input voltage -- the charger is designed to reduce or boost charge voltage depending on the battery needs.

Status: offline 		In most cases, 7 amp is all that is needed. I have one customer that jumped into a 6S pack 7200 mah and needs a new power supply for the charger. In his case, a 12 amp would marginal. He'll probably get a 22 or 35 amp power supply.

So I need 7a continuous?
300 watts or better?

I just don't want to get a power supply, and
then find that my charger is cabable of more
than the supply will support. I might decide to
use 5s packs at some point, or 14 ni-mh cells.
You just never know. If I need 12-13a 500 watts
to make sure I can use all of the chargers
capability, I'll spend the moey, but I don't want
to go way overkill either.

By the way Evan, the charger came on Sunday
as promised. Awesome customer service.
