So who has removed the shot weight in the nose????....man my 310 is gonna be close to 30lbs once when everything is in and only pushing twin OS .46s....I hope its enough power to get this bird off the ground....

badazzgti03,
Somewhere in the thread someone did remove the weight in the nose. 30 lbs, that's a beast. The two OS .46 may not be enough power for it. Now I went with 2 Evo .60nx engine in my baby. That's a 60 size engine in a 40 size body. They have tons of power!!! Did not work on the wings this weekend, because the weather for good for flying and I had a blast!!! But now the rain is back, so back in the man cave.

I would love to see a set of plans for this bird and see what type of wood the plans call for. With many people who have flown this plane and have the wing to break on landing, tell me, the wood they are using is sub-standard. I have been in this hobby for over 30 years and have built a ton of Top Flite kits. So I will take my time on this bird, so I don't get a one flight baby. I know other thing can go wrong to end her, but, to come in to land after a beautiful flight, just to have the wings to break on landing is not good!! Speaking of old plane and/or kits, anyone remember the Carl Goldberg Falcon 56??

Sonny

Yes I remember the Falcon 56, also had the Skylane 62 both were excellent flyers.

well i recently weighed my 310 just with the fuse and wings on and all servos installed with lights and the battery for the lights and t os 46s came out to be 22-23lbs and thats without retracts, wheels, brakes, receiver, sequencer gear doors, air cylinders and so on and so fourth so i guess with all that probably will add an additional 5 maybe

Hi,
3- Yes, foaming the wing or adding carbon rods (as seen in some previous posts) to strenghten the wings is not useless. Wings seems to be the weak point of this plane.

bob,

Sorry i have not got back to you sooner but have been without internet all since the move and just got hooked up but everyone has already answered for me it is needed to help hold this bird together for the wing is the weak spot i have over 50 flights on mine since the foaming and no problems.

Allen

Dear Allan;
Thanks for the reply. The "foaming" of the main wing went very well, very easy. i now venture into "more stuff" in the r/c world. Have to figure out the electronics, etc. hey, thanks again for the reply. Hope your new home is nice and comfortable.

Good to see this thread is still alive after almost 6 years !

I still haven't flown my 310 this year so it looks like it's time to pull it down from the wall. Flying my 310 results in a high "pucker factor" due to the big $$$$$$ invested. In fact it's my most pricey model.

For a few more bucks I could probably get a real 310 !

I'm sure glad SHE isn't an RCU member !

a couple of ideas: 1. look at downandlocked.com for electrical retracts and doors systems; 2. a fellow built his cessna with electric, using rimfire motors, batteries, etc.. i thought he subsequently posted that he felt the batteries were an issue, and was considering using glow power. the electrical work posted looked awesome. i would like to know if the builder really changed to glow power. 3. if you decide to add "foam" to the inside of the main wing, to add strength, pre-plan what wiring you want to run to the wheel wells and anything from the motors to the power source (battery or RX). once you foam, it probably is impossible to run lines through the wing. good luck.

Hi Nitro Wing, Hope you don't mind me jumping in here but I agree with you. Robart electric retracts will be great. I put electric servo operated retracts in mine. JR low profile servos. They work well. Just can't get the proper angle on the front nose gear. If anyone out there is interested , I'm going to sell a complete used twinsync set up including onboard glo, nacelle batteries and switches, and the digital tach display that they no longer make. Give me a PM if interested. Thanks all.

Just an update hear. The twin sync I mentioned had been sold. Thanks you.

I have a set of Robert gear for the TF C-310 that are slightly used and have he Down and Locked conversion available for sale if anyone is interested. They include the main struts and wheels. The only thing you will need to get is the nose strut and wheel as I haven't found it yet. These are slightly used but in excellent condition. Plane was sold without the gear.
These work very good on the TF Cessna 310
Contact me if interested.

Thanks
