I would charge them and this discharge to see how much capacity they have left. As they get older, they give out less capacity. If they are 75% or lower, I'd probably avoid using them. Also, I'd consider using a smart fly bat share to prevent a single bad battery from destroying your plane.

Personally, I have a smart fly system with two new 5s 2000mah nimh packs plus one 4s for on board glow. I am going to replace all of that with two 2S life packs from hobbico. I want the steady voltage and I'm trying to shave weight. With my recent repair, I added about 50ml of epoxy, lots of wood and some gorilla glue. I think it will still fly well, but I want to keep weight down.

Has anyone commented on the bestl cg point? I am exactly as stated in manual, but it required a fair amount of down elevator to fly level. Speed didn't increase or decrease the need for down elevator, which makes me wonder if it's a balance issue or just my elevator being set to high initially. On my landing, it wanted to go airborne again, so I'm worried I might have a tail heavy issue.

From what I remember CG is where they call for it on the plans.

They appear to have similar specs to the Torque 4016 - 500KV for less than half the price.

Does anyone have a front left window (pilot side) they would like to sell? I had some CA drip down mine and would now like to replace it. Thanks so much

After I bought the 310, I knew it had to be converted to electric power. I removed all most 2 lbs of steel shot from the nose and fabricated battery boxes to install as far fwd in the nose as I could. Its powered with 2 Eflite Power 60's, 2 Castle ICE 100 ESC's and, 2 6s 5000 mAh Zippy batteries. After the maiden and 2 more flights today, this 310 flys awesome. Rock solid with no bad characteristics. TF nailed it with this one!!!

Your 310 looks great. It must be a rocket with twin power 60's. just curious, what retracts did you go with?

Hey Bo,

I did put mine in the nacelles and brought the wires out the bottom to charge and hook up i don't have to take anything apart that way and it still flies as good as it did with the ax 55's

The batteries weigh 1lb 11oz each. That is more weight than what was intended to be installed in the nacelles IMO. Plus, with the batteries in the fuse, they are 7 inches more forward of the CG than the nacelle installation. After everything was installed, I had to replace 8 oz of the steel shot in the nose to balance it.
I installed the recommended Robat gear and after I replaced one of the main cylinders, they worked flawlessly.
This airplane flys awesome! No bad habits from what I could tell. I wish there was a video of my slow rolls the full length of our runway about 50 ft AGL. Next weekend, I think il try a inverted pass.

Thank you for you kind words.
Daryl

The battery boxes are glued to either side of the NLG wheel well. Hindsight being 20/20, I should of made them removable. Anyhow, they work perfect for me and keep the weight as far forward as possible. The U brace in the second picture is the battery retainer. I tried Velcro straps and a few other methods of keeping the batteries in the boxes. I didn't like any of those ideas so I designed the U brace. It looks a little over engineered but. that would be the last thing I would need at the field is to have the batt's slide back out of their boxes and create a extremely tail heavy CG. Remember, nose heavy airplane fly’s terrible but, tail heavy one only fly’s once.
I do need to remove the wing to change the batteries but, I have made 2 stands to facilitate the process. One stand to hold the fuse vertical (my daughter) and another one to hold the wing after I remove the wing bolts. The process takes 1 1/2 minutes and I didn't need to cut open the beautiful fuse to make a special hatch to gain access. I have also made arming plugs for each motor under each nacelle so the motors aren’t live all the time while everything is plugged in or for a quick disabling.

Be blessed,
Daryl

I just bought one of the 310's used at a swap meet down here in FL. The guy I got it from said he only flew it about 4 or 5 times, it is still in lik new condition, I couldn't resist for the (cheap) price. He had pulled the servos, retracts and engines. He used OS 46's which is the same as I am going to use. I cannot afford to get the retracts right now, and since he had pulled the retracts I am going with fixed gear for now. The problem is he couldn't find the wire gear and was missing one of the blue main mounting blocks. I know I can buy the 3 fixed gear from tower for about $20 if I need too, but not sure about the one blue metal main mount - does anyone have one of these blocks and the 3 fixed gear I can buy from them. Please help me out getting this plane going.

Dear Bad, I would read the posts in this area, on the 310, before going to the 55's. The review I read stated the O.S, 46's are great engines and the upgrade to 55's is minor, at best. I will check my notes to see where the review is located. using 46's means no cutting nacilles, and ease of mounting/fitting engines. hope this helps a little. Orion4455.

Dear Bad, the lengthy review raved about the OS 46's and users stated the plane flew just fine at an incredible 25 pounds. It appears to me, and some readers will be far more knowledgeable here, the OS 55's are a 46 that has been "tweaked" by OS when needing to offer a new model. The guys in the local clubs were amazed that my plane was equipped with new OS 46's. I bought the plane fully equipped. Everyone remarked about what a great deal I got from the purchase. I hope you do well with your plane, as well. best, orion.

I wouldn 't be so sure: few years back ( in 2010), it was also marked as discontinued for a while.
