Pete,

Go with the twin sync. It gives you onboad glow drivers, engine out warning and the cool sound of perfectly sync'd engines.

It includes onboards glows too?? That's awesome!

Ill look into it right now!

Thanks! Pete

I did see that one. If it had the entire wing I would have purchased it.

Anyone notice that in the instructions it shows the hole to insert the wing bolt on the right wing, It also mentions it a few times, My ARF has the hole in the left wing

Not as a recommendation but what I did -> I had some Spektrum DS821's (72oz-in) digital servos that I used for everything except the JR NES-537's on the throttle. The throttle should not be an issue and they are 40 oz-in as recommended. That leaves money for the TwinSync, retracts, strobelites, etc. If anyone has other ideas or reasons why I may regret my decision I would like to hear it.

Thanks,

Does the retract kit come with everything you need? (airlines, tank, fittings, valves)

Thanks, Pete

Thanks Olav.

To anyone who used Saito 82's, I don't have mine yet but ones shipping from CO this week and the others at my LHS, So Ill have them by this weekend. Im curious, Did you mount the throttle servos per the instructions? Looking at a pic of the saito 82 it looks like I'll have to drill my own throttle hole through the firewall and possibly mount the servo differently, Also did you run the flex exhausts? Looks like the muffler might be too close to the side of the nacelle. Again, I don't have the engines yet, I'm going by the pictures on horizon.

Thanks! Pete

I'm using the Robart retract kit (there are other brands) and it is just the gear, none of the air equipment required to drive the gear.  You can order the Robart Delux Kit and a pump to get most of what you need.  I needed extra 190 connectors and more tubing but that could have been me.  I also have the doors activated with cylinders like some others have done.  Working retracts for this bird are expensive but very nice and I would not do it any other way.

I found a post on the 82's. Guess I'll be getting some flex exhaust and making my own throttle servo mount. Thats kind of lame that the retract kit doesn't come with everything you need .

Hello all, Looking back at the review of this aircraft noting that they said it would be interesting to stop it on an asphalt runway...What about using one of the Du-Bro nose wheel brakes ?  Is this possible, and has anyone put the OS .55's in one....Looking for just a little more power for the rarified air here in Denver...Thanks for reading...Kevin

Yes, I read that some guys put 55's in it without cutting the cowl.

Did you guys use 6" extentions on the throttle and flap servo's as the instruction book recommends? Just seems like it may come up short to me?

Pete

In addition to being more powerful than the 46s, the 55's share the same mount dimensions and fit right in within the cowl!

Any info on that 6" extention on the throttle and flaps?

Mainly just the throttle concerns me, It looks like there would only be about 2 or 3 inches coming out of the wing, Seems like it may not be enough since I am not using any wye's.

I would appreciate some help since im gonna be finishing the wings this weekend.

Thanks, Pete

If you're not using "Y" cords, you might want to add a 6" extension to each of the throttle inputs on the Rx.

It's much easier to plug a servo wire into an extension than into the Rx.

But, if you want to do it the hard way, use 12" extensions on the servos instead of 6".

Thanks Mike, I don't know why the instructions didn't mention that. So basically Im plugging my 6" extention from the servo to a 6" extension from the RX. Makes me a bit nervous..

Why? It's no different than plugging a 6" extension into a "Y" cord.

If having two connections really bothers you, do what I usually do. Buy a roll of servo wire, cut the wire from the servo and solder in 6, 8, 12, 18 or however many inches of new wire you need.

Thanks Mike, I don't really feel like doing that either, Ill go with the extensions. Looks like Ill be putting them into the throttle, Flaps and aileron channels since Im not using any wye's at all.

Thanks again, Peter

Im curious now, Since the book calls for 4 - 6" extensions and 3 - y's. Do they automatically assume the builder is going to y the flaps, throttle and aileron channels? If this is the case Ill need 6 more 6" extensions.

Thanks! Pete

Ok I finally got to maiden my TF 310. It flew very nice as was expected after reading all the great reviews and watching many vids on YouTube. The power plants are 2 OS FS70"s  swinging 13x7 APC Props @ 9500rpm. I did foam the wings and have retracts. The plane definitely pitches up when flaps are lowered. I had 8% down elevator mixed in on my Futaba but need at least another 5% or so .I noticed some elevator trim change when the retracts go up -  That was alittle surprising.  The OS 70's have plenty of power and sound great in the air. Not overpowering but I would say they fly the plane in a proper manner.  TF made a nice plane.
