I am still waiting on the pipe. But measuring a friends it should fit fine.

I am using a macs clone pipe now. It is a bit short but works okay. I have no low end with it. The pipe doesn't hook up until about 1/2 throttle.

Carl,

Thank you for the quick reply. I am thinking about using OS 160 with Aeroslave pipe, and hoping this combination will work.

Regards,
Kevin

It might be easier with the 1.60 because the exhuast is on the side. You will gain about an 1" to 1 1/2" of length that way. The 1.60 and 1.40 tune in about 26" to 26 1/2" from the piston face to the first baffle in the pipe. Turning and 18 x 10 or a 15. 75 x 10-11 at about 8000 rpm.

The 1.60 will require you to cut some of the fuse out of the way for exhaust clearance.

As you can see by the picture the 1.40 is a tight fit.

Carl

Carl,

Thank you for the information. I will check the fit for OS 160 - hopefully the exhaust header cut is not going to be too much, but since I already have all of the components, I might proceed with this combo.

Regards,
Kevin

Hello Papaone,

Regarding painting of your white version Integral, let me ask some questions to you:

1- Are you going to use primer on it ?
2- Are you going to scuff the surface in order to achieve proper paint adhesion ?
3- If you are going scuffing the surface, how will you perform it ?. What will you use to do it ?

Any other hints about painting on this type of surface are welcome

Thanks in advance, I will appreciate your answer.

Regards
Enrique

JAS -> RE: Composite-ARF Integral, kinda build thread (3/26/2007 3:47:42 PM)

Here's some pics of an OS-160 install with ES pipe, Perry pump and Central Hobbies pipe mounts.

The YS header is the higher rise of the 2, the 822

CHV69 -> RE: Composite-ARF Integral, kinda build thread (3/26/2007 5:25:23 PM)

Looks good!
What type of engine mount is used with the 1.60?
What weight did the plane come in with the 1.60 Mounted?
Whose pipe is mounted on the 1.60?

I know with the 1.40, the Hyde mount is pretty soft and the engine comes close to smacking the fuse.

Carl

JAS -> RE: Composite-ARF Integral, kinda build thread (3/26/2007 5:51:33 PM)

He's using the Hyde ARI mount. It doesn't hit the nose area. I've been using the CR mount and have the motor offset and not hitting the nose. Its the ES pipe (I think L). Not sure about weight, but his felt the same as mine.

CHV69 -> RE: Composite-ARF Integral, kinda build thread (3/26/2007 7:31:19 PM)

Nice! I also used the Hyde mount with built on nose ring. It makes a nice clean setup.

CHV69 -> RE: Composite-ARF Integral, kinda build thread (3/26/2007 7:36:47 PM)

Looking closely at the picture, it sure looks like the header and carb will do some banging at idle. Maybe not.

Carl

JAS -> RE: Composite-ARF Integral, kinda build thread (3/26/2007 9:05:06 PM)

The carb is low enough to be outta the way (unless it rotates more than 45 degrees [X(]) and the header has enough clearence. It doesn't move that much. You see that the motor is actually a bit to the left (from front) and can be rotated a bit right the help with that.

Izverg -> RE: Composite-ARF Integral, kinda build thread (3/27/2007 2:23:33 PM)

HELLO, JAS,
Sorry for disturb you.

you indicated above CG of your Integral- 205 mm
I have same model, but - original ZN Line.
Under my calculation 205 mm - this is 43%
let me know, if i have mistake.

I planing for begining - 165-170 mm (33-34%)

Usualy i use on all my models 33-35%

My be, we have different wing. Can you advise your wings geometry?

Thnks for your soonest reply,

brgds

JAS -> RE: Composite-ARF Integral, kinda build thread (3/27/2007 3:30:14 PM)

Hi Dmitriy,

I started with the CG about 180 and felt it was too nose heavy even for me. I love my planes to be nose heavy when flying pattern, but the Integral felt better at 205 for some reason. It is always safe to start with the CG forward, so try it forward and move it back until feels just like you want it.

Pls, find some pfotos of our Integral.
First fly last saturday 31.03.2007
Good fly with CG 185 mm from lE.

CHV69 -> RE: Composite-ARF Integral, kinda build thread (4/2/2007 2:35:37 PM)

What is the weight of your plane?

Carl

Izverg -> RE: Composite-ARF Integral, kinda build thread (4/2/2007 8:29:32 PM)

weight 4830 gr.

CHV69 -> RE: Composite-ARF Integral, kinda build thread (4/3/2007 12:12:00 AM)

Looks good! Nice job on the build.

Dear Jason,

any news about O.S. 200 EFI ???? Did you get the second one?? Also please let me know , did you advice us to use or not???

Thnx
Oscar

s-chester -> RE: Composite-ARF Integral, kinda build thread (5/2/2007 3:05:28 PM)

hello guys

I wood be grateful to know
how long it take the Integral to rech you guys from the moment you order from Composite-ARF ?

did someone order from jp , zn-line , the white Composite-ARF Integral , if so I really like to know the receiving time ?

thanks,

chester shlomi

CHV69 -> RE: Composite-ARF Integral, kinda build thread (5/2/2007 3:52:36 PM)

It took about 5 weeks to get mine.
It took longer to get the Carbon Fiber canopy then the plane!

Carl

elan120 -> RE: Composite-ARF Integral, kinda build thread (5/2/2007 6:29:06 PM)

Carl,

Could you advise if you had to add any support in order to use different rudder control horn? Meanwhile, what method did you use to mount the pipe?

TIA,
Kevin

CHV69 -> RE: Composite-ARF Integral, kinda build thread (5/2/2007 7:29:46 PM)

At this point so far the only thing I did for the rudder horn was drill the hole and add some thin CA to harden the block in the rudder. So far it is holding okay. I did not use the supplied control horn because I thought the removal of all that material from the rudder would weaken it. I used an IMP rudder control horn from Central Hobbies.

The engine I used (OS1.40 RX) required a custom rise header. The mount used was a Dave Brown Pipe mount mounted towards the rear of the pipe tunnel.

Carl

elan120 -> RE: Composite-ARF Integral, kinda build thread (5/2/2007 9:12:53 PM)

Carl,

Thank you for the input. I am considering aftermarket rudder horn as well, and it is nice to know your method is holding up fine. Meanwhile, since I also have Dave Brown pipe mount in the shop, I will reinforce the pipe floor and give it a try as well.

Regards,
Kevin

JAS -> RE: Composite-ARF Integral, kinda build thread (5/29/2007 10:35:24 PM)

The stock rudder horn gets glued into the slot cut out in the rudder, so I don't see where this is weakening the structure...

But, I have my replacement 200 in the Integral. I've managed to put about a dozen flights on it. First 3 were with 15% Cool Power and a 17x12. More than enough power. Now I'm running PowerMaster YS 20/20 and a 17x13 and it's just as insane on the power.

Ryan and I were flying during the weekend (20-30mph winds) and his OS-160 was cooking pretty good. The 200 was probably the same speed on the horizontals, but seemed to keep a constant pull on the uplines. Both planes never knew it was windy, which made the motor comparison "appearance" testing easier. It almost made us think that it would be more fun to fly in heavy winds than in calm air.

I’ll be trying more testing with some other props and fuels to see how it all works together.

rgreen24 -> RE: Composite-ARF Integral, kinda build thread (5/29/2007 11:31:13 PM)

Hey Jason how is the OS on vibration campared to the YS?
