Or western Canada for that matter. I'm waiting for my first hull to arrive in the mail and I'm hoping by next summer it will be in the water. Just looking for people to shoot at me :) I'm very much a beginer and don't know anybody else in the hobby. I'm hopping that some of my friends will see how cool these things are and will want to join in but in the meantime I'll be looking for locals.

I know a guy in BC somewhere, who's been building an Iowa for combat. I just IM-ed him & told him to check out this forum.

Not sure if this is the same rules, or if you can get such a model across the border, but WCC may be an option. [8D]

Depending on what scale you want to start battling, contact one of the following clubs for more information, rules, plans, and possibly ships for sale.

I'd be interested in getting involved... if only as a spectator...

Umi_Ryuzuki -> RE: RC Warship Combat in Vancouver BC (12/9/2006 5:11 AM)

No spectators, you have to drive a cargo ship...

thetakehand -> RE: RC Warship Combat in Vancouver BC (12/9/2006 11:05 AM)

A cargo ship I whould be cool :) or another ship to shoot at me. At this point as far as I know I'm the only person building one of these in Van. I have talked to some of the WCC guys tho, and hopefully I can get it built by summer and wander down to Washington next summer. They seem like cool guys.

Hey, there's plenty for spectators to do. Here at the Western Warship Combat Club, all the captains are busy driving boats, so we ask the spectators to operate the video cameras and still cameras that we bring to battle. Of course, most of our intrepid combat photographers soon want to try running a cargo vessel, and then they want their own battleship, and the next thing you know, *poof* they're sinking you with a battleship that's bigger than they are[:@][sm=drowning.gif]... and then you're looking for more spectators to operate all the cameras again[:D][:)]

thetakehand, if you want a cargo ship then you might be interested in this. I have some 1:144 scale plans for a 5400 ton Japanese oiler called the Mehoshi Maru. Of course, if you want it to be allied you could probably get away with simply changing the color scheme and calling it the SS Willie Mackett [:D] If you're interested just let me know and I'll email the plans to you. Here's a preview of what it'll look like:

Now this is what this forum is all about! [8D]

We have put together three or more people in an area where no combat club currently exists.
We have linked them up with the nearest club/s for local resourcing and rules.
We have existing combat captians offering plan assistance.

Now you guys just need to schedule coffee and building days.
You will be sailing and possibly shooting next Summer!

That's the plan :)

Everbody in the R/C Warship community has been really cool and helpful, clubs, sites, vendors. I can't wait till the summer.

Don't forget, the more the merrier! put up fliers and advertisements for your new club in all the local hobby shops, model clubs, etc and recruit new members. Show your friends, co-workers, boss, and random people on the street. Most people will look at you like you're crazy, but every person who doesn't is a potential target... er... club member [;)]
