Hey, I recognize a lot of those rides! Looks like Tejas is well represented. Wish I was there - burn some for me!

How hany registered pilots where there and what was the weather like? Any more photos of the flying site?

The weather was great... T-shirt weather!!! It started out cool and wound up in the 70's. We had an interesting incident. A cessna declared an emergency and landed at the field..... Here are more pics that show the field in the background. There are several fields here in the south Alabama and Western florida area that are even nicer than this facility... Open every weekend, come on down [:D] They're pretty expensive to join though... Probably around $25/year [;)]

Few more...
Note the sweat on Eric Clapp's brow from all the hard work. Reminds me of those old Maytag commercials with the dudes just sittin around waiting for a repair call.

I just want to thank everyone for coming out and making the event such a success this year. Thanks to HobbyTownUSA-Mobile, BVM and Radiosouth for the giveaway items. I would also like to thank JetCentral and RTI turbines for their support in the event...I know almost everyone had a long drive home ahead of them and I hope everyone has a safe trip home. Hope to see everyone soon!

Mike

Mike,

thank you for your time, effort, hospitality and the "AWESOME" location you have for this great gathering. We had a great time and we're looking forward to do it again next year [;)]

Thanks again....

Ron S -> RE: Pensacola Jets Pics (11/20/2006 2:26 AM)

Thanks to Mike and the club for putting on a neat event. The 2 runways worked well in allowing a lot of flying to take place well before noon, then switching to the other runway to continue with the flying. Just need to stretch out the # daylight hours in a day now. [8D]
I started taking pics, but my camera batteries soon died...

Johnny H - cool F-4. Is that the old ITP kit?

It sure is [:D]

Here is our newest turbine pilot; Miss Hernandez.

Tom Antlfinger -> RE: Pensacola Jets Pics (11/21/2006 5:27 AM)

Definitely worth the 1150 mile trip down and back, but next year gonna come a week earlier and spend more time at the beaches and in the restaurants on the beach just minutes from the field.....

The host motel is about 15 minutes from the field.....you can stay closer, but as the field is close to the beaches, price goes up exponentially......very nice clean motel......

Tom Antlfinger -> RE: Pensacola Jets Pics (11/21/2006 5:39 AM)

The field is about as good as it gets for a jet rally.....2 runways, one near north-south and the other near east-west....we flew from the intersection so changing runways to keep the sun at our backs took about 3 minutes about 1:30 P.M. each day......also able to change runways to adjust for crosswinds if necessary......both runways are 200 ft wide with the center 100 ft smooth resurfaced, although the entire 200 feet is mostly useable.....couple of guys made good use of the runway layouts when dealing with flameouts......only saw 2 crashes all weekend, one a loss of control right from lift off....maybe a C.G. problem.......
Tents were just inside the asphalt, so start on the asphalt a safe distance from your tent and taxi out for takeoff....no carrying 35 lb planes around.....

Tom Antlfinger -> RE: Pensacola Jets Pics (11/21/2006 5:52 AM)

Vernon Montgomery tweaking his BVM 80" F-86.......Vernon, one of the highest time BVM F-4 pilots has tranferred his skills to the Sabre......

Joey Tamez and Scott Marr took turns putting on a high speed show with lots of loowww! very fast knife edge and point rolls with the P-180 powered UltraBandit......Joey's build and paint job on the UB, like with all of Scott's and his own planes are near flawless.....Scott did a great job sticking on the FliteMetal on his Hun.....it is light and lands slow like a Bandit.....Elvis, one of Joey's employees had fun with Joey's black KC all weekend....

Tom Antlfinger -> RE: Pensacola Jets Pics (11/21/2006 6:03 AM)

Lots of BXL's.....this one, I believe, belonged to John Hall from Texas....nice interior detail as well...

The Hun is the work of Dawn and Steve Ellzey....beautiful T-Bird scheme done with Metalcote......meticulous as are all of their planes..

The 80" Sabre and ITP F-4 were Johnny's rides for the weekend......both flown fast and low, as well as in tight formation with Vern Montgomery's Sabre on Saturday......

Tom Antlfinger -> RE: Pensacola Jets Pics (11/21/2006 6:14 AM)

Food provided by guys and gals from VT-3.......excellent burgers and pulled pork barbeque......all day, every day....

And doesn't get any better than a hug from little Leah(sp) Hernandez......

Thanks to Mike Mills, Keith Seivers, and the rest of the locals for this great meeting....

Tom
