Awesome work! I am impressed. Amazing what can be done to an ARF. I am looking forward to working on mine soon.

Chad I know what you mean. The prices of some of these arf warbirds is really great. Forgot a pic of the rear linkage. I added a 1/8 ply in the fush for the tailwheel asm.Rich

After getting the ailerons and flaps glued on and the wings mounted, with the flaps set to match the fushlage then the ailerons don't match the flaps. I clamped the ailerons to match the wing tips using a paint stick on both sides of the wing then hung weight on the inboard part of the aileron, heated the aileron up with the heat gun and let it set overnight with the weight still clamped to the ail. next morning everything lines up right. This should give about 2 deg of washout too. Tank is installed motor is installed, retracts working. Made gear doors from 3/32 clear plastic sanded and painted. Made gear door brackets from 1/4 nylon.<a busted water tank> I need to run the motor G23 and finish the canope. Rich

The 109 is pretty much done. It whighs 121/2 lbs ready to fly with G23 and retracts. Not bad for a 78 in warbird. I never did get the instructions. Hope to have pic this weekend. Rich

Hi Rich,

I am still overseas. I havent heard from my son if anything else has arrived for the plane. I ordered a set of KMP retracts for their 109 so I am hoping they will do the job.
Alan

Flew the 109 Sunday. No preblems easy to take off and landing with full flaps, very little pitch change. Not enough to even trim for. The G23 pulls it fine running a 16x8 apc. Flew the 109 three times and on the last landing on roll out lost a wheel<forgot to locktite wheel collor> no harm at all. I plan on flying several flights if all goes well I will pull the covering fiberglass and repaint. Rich

Looks good Rich, I may have to pick one of these up myself. Think you can have it glassed and painted for the 1/8 Air Force fly-in in March?

Chad I don't think I will glass and paint it for a while. I might bring it down anyway.
LDM I did email him and never got an answer.
I flew it again today, went fine. It is a little tricky in a cross wind take off and landing with those long legs. Rich

I will keep an eye on the site see if he comes back nice plane overall , looks better then the average CMPs in the price range .
I am waiting for Chinese New Year to end and production to rev up , CMP is supposed to release a 140 size BF 109 , I know the CMP critiques will come out of the wood , but who cares , I love them , there my choice for tweeks until I can make time to build

yes they are supposed to team up with willshobby , start with sport planes , top quality in airobic type planes then attempt warbirds .

THe owner of CMP shared his conversations with me in his store , said that he still feels the market on warbirds is in the 68 to 75" size but he wants to start getting into the quality of KMP .

Dont know if he reached an agreement with wills or not

Wow, I have been working on my 109 and I cant believe I got it so cheaply. It is a pretty decent ARF for the money. I wasnt able to find a cheap gas engine so i picked up an OS 160. It is going together pretty nice. I will have to repaint it though. Ididnt like the decals on the fuse so those will go too.

I should have it done in about a week at the rate I put models together. I am happy with it so far. Good to hear it flies well too!

almost finished with this beauty for an ARF. I must say this was a good deal. I did some repainting. It has been slow going without instructions and the weather being as cold as it has been I havent been all that up for staying out in my unheated garage. I ended putting a Saito 150 in it. I dont like inverted glow engines so it is sticking out the side. It was hard for me to want to cut that cowl but it had to be done. I couldnt find a cheap enough gas engine which would have been nice. ( I am cheap) Some pics;

Asanders I had to change my retracts after about 15 flights they got real wobbly and made takeoffs a littly tricky. also I changed the rear stab supports to more solid ones . that got rid of my fish tail when flying. The Saito should make it screem. I wish they were still selling them ,I would order another one. Good luck with wour maiden

There is someone still selling them. Search Me 109 on e-bay. I just looked, and it sure looks like the same model.
Hard to miss that canopy.
Just looked again, it's item number: 140108411555

Slow I hit "builders block" again. It's all glassed and just about ready to start putting some paint on it. A couple of hours and it will be ready to prime and block. Got all the stencils from Gary at "Got Stencils", so I really need to get back at it. It's been so windy here, or rainy, and I have paint outdoors, so that's holding me up too. Soon maybe. I'll update my thread when I do get back at it.
