Has anyone built, or even toyed with the idea of, a dynamo or DC generator from a motor or stator? I'm trying to gather info on something like this. I'd like to create some type of generator that runs off a 4-stroke nitro powerplant. Preferably capable of more current than the steam-powered dynamos that are common.

I had a look at you ROV build. The machine work is out of this world. I picked up a New Bright 1/6 scale rtr truck for my son for xmas http://www.newbright.com/search1.cfm?id=384 and had the same thought you did about using the body and custom making an chassis for it. The pic doesn't do it justice the detail is pretty good for being a "toy". I was thinking along the lines of having some custom made Mattracks made up http://www.mattracks.com/ . The only off the shelf tracks that come close are from http://www.matotoys.com/canada/product_info.php?products_id=89&osCsid=a774a36f01ac17cb7545a4ba339d10cf Also i was thinking of using an RCV 60sp for the engine giving that the RCV has a 2:1 gear reduction already built into the engine giving an unbelievable amount of torque. Looking forward to the next update.

Thank you for the kind words on my work.

The Sullivan system is EXACTLY what I am seeking. I am in your debt for the link!

As for the tracks, I have also considered the Matotoys metal tracks and drive wheels. Their design is really flexible and seems to be a fairly straightforward install on a full-size vehicle. I emailed them about some specifications, and they informed me that the 1/16 scale tracks are 77cm in length and 4.5cm wide. They are cast, so the look might not match, but they could lead to some better ideas.

Yes, that is the one. I've been gathering some info on that model over on the Aircraft forum. It seems to be the right type of design, and I may even develop my own based on the Sullivan's functionality.
