The servos hanging out are a little disapointing, but the pics are of the prototype. Maybe the production version will be better set-up. I have been a fan of the SRE, since my days as young boy, when I built the Sterling controline version. Sure would like to see it in an ARC as well.

There is absolutely NO reason why you could not put a miniservo in instead of the standards and not have them stick out the wings.

Easy Tiger, Ever heard of "Kit bashing" ? You could get some low profile servos, or mod the servo mount so as to lay the servos on their sides, etc, etc.....Do wha tmakes you happy. With my old eyes I can't see the servos fro a hundred feet away anyhow..........

Thanks, The pic was taken this afternoon, I still have some rigging to do, and paint the trim. I cut the first piece on March 1 this year. How many ARF's could I have assembled in the time it took to build that one?

Bill, That is sort of a trick question..... Could have is one thing, would have is another......I'll bet it flies as good as it looks. My self, I am torn between the Pica (Cox) Waco and the Sig. The SRE reminds me of the old Sterling kit, about a 56 incher. Not to sure it wasn't one of the CL conversions to RC.....

No, sterling also had a dedicated RC one, great kit, in addition to the smaller CL one.

Drone pilot, you got it right. Hiding the servos will be child's play.

Beautiful model.

Perplexity, perplexity.... Being a member of RCA, (Radio Controlers anonymous) I am trying to justify that "one more, no more" model. Tried it with the H-9 Camel, and it woikin'.
I think I'm going to succomb to the SRE. "I promise. I promise...it'll be my last one......

There is no way to justify ANOTHER new airplane to the wife. What you must do is guilt her into it. This technique has worked for me like a charm... in an agonized tone say "Gosh that's a pretty airplane honey, but I just don't deserve any more airplanes." Then stare at the picture of it, but say nothing more. In a few days she will come back and say "why dont you get that new plane you wanted sweetheart?"

Try it!

Yak

Yak, I'm sure that tha approach would work, if I didn't live alone. I'm sort of spoiled, I guess, as I pretty much get my way as long as the plastic banker doesn't get to overloaded.
I just need a bit more self control when a new plane comes out.

Hey, they send them "plastic bankers" out free in the mail now. When one gets full, just get another.

Hi khodges,
Well, you know the old story, the hobby will be many things to many folks. Not too long ago, I took on a model that would surely scratch your building itch-the TF stinson SR. And when you proudly fly it, you can see a very special outline!
Me, at my point in life-I love to get another of the many very outstanding arfs but I sure am glad for the many earlier years of building from which I can draw on for solutions to the odd arf uncertainty.
Enjoy the Stinson, it will sure keep you busy!
