I just ordered one of these and have high hopes for decent quality with relatively few issues. Many of the posted photos look pretty darn good but I wish there were reviews on this model. As previously requested, any positive feedback would be most welcomed.

Well gentle readers, as promised, I received the "new" bottom wing from SIG today (see my previous post). You know.....the one to replace the original wing with the detached blind nut for the "N" strut bracket....the one that would require wing surgery and an ugly patch job to install a new blind nut. Well guess what they sent? A wing with an ugly patch job that had obviously been returned and by another buyer and now was sent to me. If this is how SIG honors their product guarantee, then this will be my last purchase. See the attached photos for a look at what they sent. I'll post a followup to this when SIG responds.

It could also be that SIG returned you your own repaired wing.
Not an impressive job, whatever the case may be...
Dissapointing.

This is not my wing. My wing was to be returned to them when the "so called" new wing arrived. I will now do my own repair and chaulk it up to a lesson learned.

Dave from Sig Manufacturing here,

The replacement wing that silver.kiwi received was a repaired wing that we were going to sell as a scratch & dent item. We are a bit perplexed ourselves how we could make such a mistake to send this repaired wing out as a new product.

This is NOT the way Sig does business.

I have been in contact with this customer and have apologized on Sig's behalf and I am replacing all defective parts.

Now I like seeing replies like that. Ordered my Waco just last week and quite looking forward to the build. I have no experience with SIG but replies such as the one from Dave are very reassuring.

You can't ask for any better than that. And I'm happy to see the mfg represent itself here on the forums, leaves no doubt about their desire to please their customers.

Bravo Zulu, Sig

Let me also add my thanks and appreciation to Dave Redden at SIG for his prompt and courteous response to the issues I had with my SRE. We had a good telephone conversation today and I was more than satisfied with the results. It is indeed nice to see a manufacturer that follows these forums and listens to their customers. This is what we expect from one of America's premier names in modeling.

I also am happy to hear that Sig treated you well. I bought the SRE last week from a LHS, but have bbeen too busy at work to start the build.

Aloha,

I just received my SRE yesterday. It's gonna be a beauty.
Mine is gonna be electric. (since I already have the stuff on hand)

If any one is interested, I'll be posting conversion details here: http://www.wattflyer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29963

My question is, How do I join the WACO Brotherhood?

Hi Dave,
I have received the replacement kit and completed the inventory. However, I found the fit of the lower wing to be exactly as the first one as can be seen in the photos in my earlier post. I remember that you told me that the prototype and other examples you have in Montezuma are not this way. Can it be that the production models are just different and all have this gap showing? I can live with it the way it is but if this is not as it should be then I would think you will need to take it up with the factory. Thanks again for your help.

Aloha Haze B,
I have a question for you on the fit of the lower wing on your model. I'm on my second kit of this plane and both had the same problem and I wanted to know if anyone else is having the same problem. The wing saddle just doesn't mate with the wing well. At the trailing edge the wing can't seat deep enough in the fuselage to hide the gap between the wing and the fuselage. Also, on the left side along the fuselage, there is about a 1/16th inch gap between the wing and fuselage so the wing works up and down. Not good. All in all the fit is just not good and I'm going to have to clean the wing saddle up with all of the various covering issues and incidence issues associated with a Bi-plane. Let me know if yours is the same please.

Aloha Silver.Kiwi,

My bottom wing mounts the fuse just fine. The wing panels are flush fore to aft along the fuse, no gaps. The wing bolt mount is the only thing that is not flush, but that is to be expected. I hope everything gets sorted out for you.

Thanks for your response. I can deal with it, I just think I have a "Monday Morning" wing saddle.

Silver.kiwi, mine arrives in soon... maybe today. I'll let you know if it also suffers from "Monday Morning" wing saddle, although, I'm hoping to post a lot of positive.

Perhaps I just expected too much. I think mine will be fine and fly as good as it looks. It's just that if I were building this from a kit instead of assembling someone else's work, I would have paid a little closer attention to the fit of the lower wing. I'll post more as the assembly continues.
