HH = heading hold.

It does what it says - holds the heading for you so that (in theory) the ONLY thing that will make the tail wag is your moving the left stick on your Tx. Anything else that moves the tail (wind, torque changes with power adjustment etc.) the gyro will sense the movement and automatically operate the tail rotor for you to put it back where YOU last left it.

When learning helis having someone(/something) else control the tail for you so you only need to concentrate on throttle/cyclic just makes things easier to learn.

That's the theory anway.
