zeropointbug -> inconsistent M1 cell data...?!?! (11/25/2006 12:55:31 AM)

Hi all,

If anyone has noticed like i have, trying to post data on M1 cell performance, will be down right confused between the sources.

I have seen (from A123 website) that the cell maintains 2.7 volts at the rated 30C (70 amps) discharge

I have also seen a voltage of 2.69 volts at a 42 amp discharge...

I have also seen 2.5 volts at 30C (70 amp) discharge...?

I, personally, have had a VERY good experience with these cells and think that these cells hold their voltage higher, somewhere in the range of 2.7 volts with a 40 amp draw. And current draw unlike anything else with PLENTY of torque under acceleration. A little higher top speed than 12 cell NiMH, but the MUCH more torque. This leads me to believe that they hold there voltage up there. (5s2p)

Ever hear of Steve Neu?

Snip

quote:

The A123 cells which are rated for 2300 mah give up 2150mah at 10C discharge. The voltage at 10C is 2.85 volts/cell. At 20C the voltage/cell is 2.5 at the mid discharge point.

One of my Data Logger Graphs.

This graph run # 2 of 3 runs from a singl charge .780 start -1400 mAh end.

Start 34 A, end 30A / start V 9 end V 8. 8/3=2.66

Here is another Graph showing a 4 cell pack under a 40A load.

Dang, I have to get one of them and a GPS!
