SavageRevo -> SuperBrain 977 and liPo's (11/26/2006 10:16 PM)

Hello all,

Just wondering what do i need to charger LiPo's with my SuperBrain 977 charger ? i.e balancer ?

You really don't NEED anything. It would be a good idea to at least check the cell balance when charged.

A balancer is recommended and the 977 uses a unorthodox charge routine that is not a conventional cc/cv like is usually recommended for lipos. It is one of the fastest charges (even when the rate is 1C compared to other chargrs)

The 977 does use cc/cv charging routine, as read in the owners manual and as stated bu MRC tech support. I have a 977 and it works great for lipos, the only down fall is it does not have memmory for different types of batteries. to charge lipos you do not need anything but it is recomended to use a balancer like this one

My manual does not speak of the cc/cv and my 977 charges to about 4.3 volts per cell then terminates fast charge and goes to trickle charge. How'd you get a cc/cv one? Maybe there's a new one? Do you have the one with a 3 amp max for lipos?

The early ones had a 2.5 amp max and the later ones had a 3 amp max, but both used the same fast lipo charge.

Not sure about the charge rate because my higest capacity lipo is 1500mha.

Here's the charge with 3S and a 2s , they both slammed to 4.3 per cell and then trickled (resting at the correct voltage) It's fast and it works, but hardly a cc/cv charge. I'll get a 989 soon and check it too. [:o]
