I got a Blade CP over a year ago and have never mastered it. Mostly because I got tired of buying replacemen parts and not seeing any improvement. Three weeks ago I bought a CX (just before the CX2 came out - oh well). Anyway, this thing is great. I don't know of all the practice with the CP helped or not but I was flying the CX straight from the box. This IS as much fun as I thought it should be. I won't say I'm even margenly ok with it yet but I can do some nose in stuff with out crashing every time. And when I crash it's so much easier and less expensive to fix than the CP. I mean the blades for the CP are $15/pr and they're only $1 a piece for the CX, I tell ya, I'm lovin this CX.
I do have one question and, believe it or not, a tip.
The question is about the tail drift. Does ventalating the 4-in-1 really help? I mean with a fresh battery the tail swings pretty hard one way and by the time the battery's about discharged the tails going hard the opposite direction. Would venting the 4-in-1 help this at all??
The tip is about the rotor head. It took me about 20 flights until I broke the first one and about 7 more before I broke it again (I've got an alum one on order). Anyway, when I picked up the 3rd stock one, the owner of my LHS was there and told me if I left the screw above the flybar out that I would not break the head nearly as much. He said that he's only broken 1 in the demo CX they have at the store, and believe me, everybody that walks in the store wants to try it out. So, I left the screw out and have not broke the head yet. What happens is that instead of breaking the head the flybar just pops out. Snap it back in and you're flying again.

I went thru all that when I first got my BCX too. Some folks actually cut big raggedy holes in their canopies--I just couldn't bring myself to do that. But I did ventilate the 4-in-1 and made a little scoop to vent air into the canopy over the unit, and I installed a tiny heat-sink on the output mosfets too. The heat sink on the mosfets made no difference, the overheat problem is probably in the gyro itself. The ventilation did help quite a bit, now I can go a whole 900mAh pack without much retrimming. But by now in my flying career I have gotten to the point where I just input whatever control is needed to get the required response--I hardly notice the need for trim, as long as the aircraft is controllable at all. You will get to that point too pretty soon.
I guess flying the MicroMosquito did that to me...
or maybe it's my white-knuckled ham-fisted grip style...

I actually went into my local LHS looking to get the CX2, which would be my first heli. I wanted something to learn the basics on and be able to fly around my house. I ended up walking out with the CP Pro, a recommendation from the LHS staff. I made sure to mention that I was a complete beginner... but they said I'd be fine. At the time I never heard about the CP Pro, but I guess I should've done more research. I've been flying it for a week now, well, moslty driving it around the ground, but I think it may be a bit more advanced for my needs/skills. Yesterday I finally rammed it into an obstacle and will need to replace the blades. In general though, I somewhat regret getting the CP Pro instead of a CX2.

That's very odd advice. I got the CP 1st and now bought the CX. If I did it all over again, I'd get a flight sim 1st before trying to fly the CP. It takes quite awhile and a lot of patience to just hover that CP thing half way decent. It actually can get boring cuz you can't do much else w/out destroying parts. For the 2nd time a couple of weeks ago I barely crashed on my CP, hitting the blades on the ground but not hard enough to ruin them, however it ruined my 4in1. That's $70 down the drain AGAIN. So I got the CX finally to be able to fly something indoors and be able to learn how to fly nose in and while turning around. The one bonus is if you can just hover a CP, flying the CX is a breeze. At 1st I was going to use the training gear, but it's not necessary at all. And some drifting isn't a bad idea as far as training you how to fly. I'd actually suggest trying to fly the CX outdoors in a little wind before going with the CP.

Once I can fly nose in on the CX, I'll be buying that new 4in1 for the CP and that again. The CX is fantastic for easy flying indoors, though.

What tweaks have you done to your CX2?

.
None.
I do expect I'll be playing with the pitch, to make it more "up-windable" outside. Right now the slighest breeze blows it downwind.
Full forward trim and full forward stick can't get it back, without adding full power, which makes it climb, and go further downwind because the wind strength increases with altitude.

Holyschmoley,

Concerning the CP and burning up the 4n1, you can install a 7.5 amp automotive fuse in series with the positive lead of the main motor to protect the controller. Also, you can install a 3 amp fuse, in series with the positive lead of the tail motor. You can get them at Auto Zone, NAPA, most automotive stores. For about a 2 dollar investment, it would have saved the 4n1 from smokin'.

Hi, in regarding install a fuse, could you please provide more information? Make be photos of where the fuse connected to, which wire? I am new to this RC Heli, just brought my CX2 several days a ago.

Do you have to keep flying a lot to burn the motor? May be like continue to fly 5, 10, 15 batteries?? I have no experience on this kind of things. If I fly 2 to 5 batteries and then stop and break, do I need to warry about burning the motor?

Hope the wind will clam down in Hawaii today, want to take it out door to fly a litte.

I changed the blades after scraping the patio and I now have a little "toilet bowl" action in hover. Slow swirling circling of the body... No yaw change .

I broke down the entire shaft/ hub/gears and all is perfect. Both shafts are very straight and everything spins true with out blades and there is virtually no vibration anywhere....

Blades are tracking really good! YES I AM OUT OF THE PROP WASH AND INSIDE WITH NO FANS, HEATER, ETC!

1. What is the FIX??????? HELP!

2. Also, I have to trim a little right rudder on fresh battery, the about half way through batt. I am trimming full left rudder and still a little drift.

Anyone having this issue? I am assuming a little of this is normal as with my cp pro! At the end of the battery I am full tilt left rudder trim!

Maybe need to gain up the gyro a little...

3. Will a 3 amp fuse live in normal flying on each motor in the CX2?

I can't seem to find 4 amp mini blade fuses which I have seen recommended on another thread.! They come in 3, 5 amp only!

When the heli tips over and the blades stop... PULL BACK ON THE THROTTLE!
That will prevent 99% of these 4-in-1 smokes.
