I have a rc10 gold tub old school rc that i bought a novak ss brushless system off ebay for. Got the system motor and sc was already hooked up all i did was change conectors to the tayma's. Hooked it up nothing light comes on the sc but does not blink. tried holding down the button light blinks i go through the normal novak programming thing which is full throttle, full brake. Light stops still nothing. I have everything plugged in. What gets me is i don't even have control of my servo for steering. It doesn't move and it is hooked up.
Then sometimes i plug the battery in and the motor just runs by it self even then i have no control over it or the servo. Anyone have any suggestions besides i got ripped off and have to get a new sc?

Have you got the tx set right? If you also don't have steering then I don't think it's the esc. Why did you change to tamyia plugs? Those are junk and you won't get the most out of that bl motor with them.

Are you sure that you have them (esc and servo) plugged into the correct holes on the receiver?

I changed to those plugs cause thats all my packs had and besides my mini-t this is the only elc. car i have rest are nitro. And i know its not the rec. cause i put it in my t-max and it worked and tried to run the rc10 with my t-max radio and contoler and still nothing. Plus i can put the old sc and motor in and it works fine. but the brushes are out of it so runs like crap.

When you put the other esc and motor in did your steering work then? Did you double check connections in the rx as icecreamslick pointed out?

Which has got me lost i have been out of elc. rc's for a bit well to tell you how long i bought this car new. lol but been in nitro for awhile so i know kinda what i am doing but also know i am not above and beyond any mistake. the guy didn't send me any manuals with the brushless kit or anything so i am just guesing i got the programing right.

The thing that bothers me is the steering not working. The esc and motor have nothing to do with that so if it's all set up right (the tx settings and rx connections) it all should work, or at leaste the steering.

ok here is my question. Is there a built in failsafe on these cause i can't get my servo work seems like when i plug the batt into the esc there is no juice going to my rec. Now why that is i don't know but i wonder if that is kicking in some failsafe in the esc or something

They have a thermal cut off if it gets too hot but it resets itself. Are you sure the connectors in the rx are in right? Some times you can put them in backwards then nothing works.

I don't know what to tell you but I still don't think it's the esc. the steering would work if it was. You can always send the motor and esc into Novak and have it checked out. Are you sure you didn't switch the pos. and neg wires when you changed the plug?

ok,
step 1. make sure the steering servo is plugged into channel 1 on your receiver
step 2. make sure the ESC (its not called a sc) is plugged into channel 2 on your receiver
step 3. make sure the motor wires on the ESC are connected by means on red wire on (+) side of motor and black wire on (-) side of motor
step 4. make sure radio trim is at 0% throttle and 0% servo so that everything is neutral
step 5. reprogram the ESC while using a fully charged battery (if so invest in some good packs, not any venom packs)
step 6. if all fails try on another receiver. if it then works then the receiver is totally screwed.

and PLEASE make sure you do all car testing on a platform and make sure transmitter batteries are full and make sure antenna is fully extended unless your using spektrum.

hope this helps!

regards,
'lectrix guru

also if possible post pics of:
ESC wired up your way
receiver wired up your way
motor wired up your way
and your radio when its turned on.

also make sure the antenna wire on the receiver isnt cut or frayed. also check the wire joining the ESC to the receiver. make sure there are NO splits, cuts, frays or damage.

regards,
'lectrix guru

Good tips but remember this is a bl motor / esc (3 wires + sensor).
