Kennyach, How much offset are you looking at setting on your current build? Is there a forumula for off set placement that factors in the size of boat, motor and propeller? Is the props longatudinal loaction relative to the transom matter to where the off set should be? How do you know where to put it?

Advanced Builder, your post above suggest that your......"are bent to the left". Are you saying you are mouting the strut on centerline but canting it off center so that the prop thurst/wash is not parallel to the hull center line?

Do you know of a good source that I can go to and study this topic deeper? I am not sure I understand what the dynamics involved are doing here. I know what "p" factor is on an airplane propeller; the twist of the prop wash natually curling in the direction of rotation causing a delta of prop wash over the aircrafts surfaces. Is the what we mean by prop walk in boats. The tendency for the boat to get pushed sideways from the 'p' factor and the resistance of the water?

Ray ,
build your hull, you worry to much ,these are minor adjustments ,ever hull is different,if your hull wants to veer right lightly, left trim. After your first run make some of these adjustments on strut,go slowly. get her wet first.

What he said^. One of the first things to remember is that a sharp balanced prop is the first defence against propwalk. Get the hull done and the rest will be answered through trial and error. This is the nature of boating

I'm still playin with the gale v hull, it was painted with kb epoxy and it just so happens my buddy has a bunch of it from the old days. The mac 67 is ready as soon as the carb gets here then the stuffing tube and strut go in. I keep thinkin this thing will be a handfull with the new tech mac power as this is 70's vintage shovel, but Gary says the boat is rock solid built from newton plans and the best wood money can buy, i'm pretty sure that 65 mph is a low estimate for the speed.

http://www.rcboatco.com if you want a premade molded fiberglass hull
http://www.dumasproducts.com/index.php?cPath=136&osCsid=24gi95gbbdcu47t259mp0hja93 has a few kits made from wood
http://www.newtonmarine.com has plans if you want to start from nothing and work your way to a finished boat
Just so you know, THESE ARE FOR NITRO OR ELECTRIC POWER, NOT GAS/PETROL. If you want, you can enlarge a set of plans by 20% to make them usable gas/petrol power

Looks like it's time to revive this thread. Several things have changed since my last post so I'll do a quick update:
1) I purchased a Steve Muck scale hull from Piper Chuck that makes several different boats based on the 1972 Notre Dame and 1974 Valu Mart. This one needed some serious reworking so some of my time has gone into refurbishing it.
2) As some of you already know, I built a sport 20 sized Pay'N Pak using a Dumas kit for templates and modifying the boat's design from there. It was given it's maden voyage in Sellersburg Indiana July 2011
3) I purchased an R/C Sportcraft 2000 Elam Plus and have ran it a few times, the last run damaging the boat so I've spent some of my time repairing it.
4) I obtained the registrations for the 1973 Pay'N Pak, 1985 Executone and the 2009 Oh Boy! Oberto. Since I already had a set of plans for the 1996 Budweiser, I've been redrawing them as needed to make the Oberto which means most of the frames needed to be redrawn. I'm presently about half done doing the reworking of the plans so, if all goes well, I should be able to start cutting wood for the Oberto soon.

Obtaining the registrations is a big one as once a boat is registered, the builder has 18 months to have it completed. This means that I need to be working on all three as quickly as possible. So far, I have four CMB engines for the the boats, the Muck hull and Elam have already been installed with the other two NIB engines going in the Executone and Oberto. This means I still need at least two more to go into the Pak and Madison shown previously. The two K&B engines I had planned to use are going to go into in a pair of Dumas Circus Circus kit builds to be assembled at a later date. Construction has already started on the Executone wih the fiberglass cowling being purchased for it as well as most of the fiberglass parts and dummy turbine engine for the Oberto. If all goes well, I'll try and post some pictures within the next few days and pick up the Pak build where I left off. The Prodelco build has been cancelled and will be restarted as a second Notre Dame hull as I also have a second cowling of that style. Now it's time to get to work on boats

As I said, it's time to really start moving on my scale builds. I have included in the pictures (left to right) the 73 Pay'N Pak, 1972 Notre Dame and 2009 Oberto. As you can see, I have the glass parts for the Notre Dame and Oberto as well as having all of the sponson insides cut. The plan for tomorrow is to work on the sponsons on all three boats as well as the not pictured Executone. Wish me luck

Sorry I haven't posted all week but it just takes a bit more time to lay out, cut and fit frames by hand. I have most of the cross frames done for the Oberto's right side and sponson as well as two sets of frames for the Pak and Dame. As soon as I get all the frames needed to this point done, I'll be posting some pictures of all four boats showing my progress to date.

I didn't quite make it as far as I wanted but this will give you a general idea of what's going on. The closest boat is the Pak with part of the cross frames installed but not glued in. The Notre Dame, in the middle, is still waiting on me to get the sponson insides and other parts fitted and finished so I can install them. In the rear is the Oberto, partially hidden by the Dame's cowling. The right side frames are almost all done, just a matter of getting the epoxy mixed up and using it.
