Thats awesome! You might want to watch your temps tomorrow with that 23 tooth pinion and 8 cells. im gonna start off with a 17 tooth pinion when i get the mamba.

Wont ths 17 tooth give you insane torque? NICE!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, what are good temps to run? Do I temp the motor, ESC, and battery?

For nitro, I merely temp the motor head every few laps to make sure I'm in a safe range.

BTW, Bombers 410, with 6 cells, am I safe to run with the 23 tooth? Ty in advance.

O yea, can the stock XL-5 transmission handel insance power?

So are there any actual facts on the speed diffrence between a Novak SS5800 and a mamba max?

I have a SS5800 right now, its broken via a huge freaking jump. I am considering getting it refurbished...

Maybe stick with the SS5800 and save $ for lipo or spend all the $ on a mamba and stick with GP3300s

Also what is the most durable wide pede conversion? I wouldnt want to drill out the castor blocks or weaken anything...

no data for the pede, but in a stadium truck....
ss5800 = 35 max
mamba 7700 = 50+
not sure bout the 5700

6 cell 3600 battery results:

Data results from a stock stampede with 19 tooth:

Torque madness; flips on its back with half throttle on grass; SOLUTION: Wheelie bar ordered today
top speed: 35 mph
ESC temp: Cool

Data results from a stock stampede with 23 tooth:

Torque: wheelies half throttle and would sometimes flip over
top speed: 41 mph
ESC temp: very warm after five minutes running on grass

I will test run my 8 cell pack at lunch but will lower gear ration due to heat problems.

Car is sooooooooo powerful.

Problem: I love it but car is making a clicking noise; someetimes sputter; i checked gear mesh and pinion placement and they look perfectly in place; wondering what the problem is? Is the 23 pinion a bit big for the spur? O well, more inspections underway; so in love. best $200 spent!!!!!!!!!!!!!

8 cell test posted at lunch

the set screw on the pinion could be rubbbing on the spur gear? Well i dont know about your gearing, because i dont have my mamba yet. I do know that castle creations says that any gearing will work fine as long as the motor/ esc stayes below 200 degrees. 200 degrees will burn your finger almost instantly if you hold it on the motor. If you can touch the motor for a few seconds before you have to let go then it would probably be geared only a little high.

Psycho Revo, you aren't excited at all, are you? Glad you made the jump! If you are hearing a clicking, you might be ready to kiss your outer diff gear (The big one in the tranny) goodbye. The aluminum idler gear is a good idea if you haven't installed it yet.

Castle says to gear in order to stay below 200. You do not want to be any hotter. I would do my best to have a setup that tops out in the 150-160 range (Allows a safety cushion). My ESC seems to stay quite cool (Was only 100 degrees after a full 9 cell 3800 pack on 15/87 gearing).

The trick is to keep the rubber side down...

Oooooooooooooo myyyyyyyyyyyyyy gooooooooooooooooood ness.

Unbelievable. Just when I thought RCs couldn't get any better, it did with this brushless Stampede.

I took it out today running a 3700 8 cell pack running a 23 tooth pinion. Holy ****ake!!!!!!!! I feathered the throttle and when it got to a good speed, I slowly full throttled it but halfway down the track, it would wheelie and slide all over its back. My new Pede sheel, boo hoo but the performance, YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had people running up to me asking: "What the heck you got in that thing?" I laughed and that was the point where all the money I put into this thing paid off.

QUESTION: With 8 cells, the motor hits about 175 degrees. Did you state the 200 is the cut off point? How and when do you know you've cooked the motor? I stop immediately and cool it down drastically. I will go back down to six cell becuase this thing is ballistic. There is no way I will li po right now because of the beastly manner of this thing.

QUESTION 2: The only difference in the Mamba Maxx packages are the ESCs correct? All motors in the packages are identical correct?

1: I wouldn't let the motor get above 175 degrees. I thought that the mamba max had a thermal shutdown protection so it would shut itself off it it got to hot, but im not sure on that. If it gets above 175, then i would just get a lower pinion gear.

2: The esc's are the same, and the motors are different.

IM glad you had fun with your balistic pede! You should radar it to see how fast it was going. What radio are you using?

Stock Traxxas radio.

O by they way, I'm just going to drop to six cells instead of changing pinions because the thing wheelies like crazy now let alone dropping the pinion lower.

I feel as though it ran cooler with six cells.

What gearing is everyone else running with their pedes? Anyone try a 20 or 21 tooth pinion yet?

heres my thing. I have my new XL-5 Pede and i kinda like the stock set up. It's not too much but not too little. Its a good balance. I just finished balloning everything and going mudding with it today and that was a BLAST!!!! I couldnt have had more fun. But now i get in here and i'm read everything you guys had to say about upgrading to your brushless set ups. I have the mamba 7700 and i love the damn thing. I have it in my TT-01 and it ran 56.7mph. I'm thinking in the Pede it'll run at least 40-45mph. My only problem is can i ballon everything again and get away with it? if stay at stock gearing i'm sure it wont ge
