Status: offline 		Hello all, I just bought a used Rascal 110 that has an OS 160 on it.
I got to fly the plane this weekend and it was great, plenty of power from that os 160.
I am thinking about changing it out to gas. I have read the entire thread and found it most interesting. It seems to me the Zenoah 26ei might be the one. I'll need a new cowl, which I have found, but don't know if I need the extended cowl 7 1/2 inches on the regular one? Would someone please answer this question - I didn't see it in the thread. Thanks in advance - malcolm

I had the G26 with a 5/8" or 3/4" firewall mount spacer.
The standard cowl is fine.

From some of the other information I got from the thread - I'll be looking in to a 3 1/2 inch spinner and a B & B header stack ( think that might be a muffler hi)

Status: online 		I used a 3-1/4" TruTurn Spinner (TT-3552-B ) or a TruTurn
3-1/2” Ultimate Spinner TT-3552-B-M. Be sure to get the proper dome cut for the prop you will be using. Not all props have the same cut-out for the same pitch. Do some research on TruTurn website.
You can hide (blend-in) a B&B Header Single Stack better (not as bulky) than a B&B Double Stack.

Status: offline 		Thanks Hog Rider. I use the single pipe header. Load but good. I use the same TT spinner as Zippi had on his. BTW i ride a 03 Heritage softail classic anniversary.

Status: offline 		Hey I have another question - Just got in from flying my Rascal - it has the os 160 which is really a nice motor. I think I would be more happy if I change it out to gas. The question is, I have been given advice from king arthur and hogrider on using the Zenoah 26ei, which I thank them very much. I have a good lead on an Zenoah 23 - which I know does not have electronic ignition. This Zenoah 23 is brand new in the box - could I tell much difference between the 26 or the 23 ? Looks like the price will be around $185.00. Like to hear again for king arthur and higrider and anyone else - If you think I should wait for the Zenoah 26ei please just say so -thanks in advance malcolm

Status: online 		A G26 is an improved G23.
I had a G26 Mag that came with a SIG Rascal 110 and changed it over to electronic ignition.
I did fly it with the Mag, but I felt it idled a little too fast. With the electronic ignition, the idle was much lower and smoother.
Another possible draw-back is the fly-wheel effect, if you want to come down from full open to idle. The fly-wheel will want to keep on spinning. The Mag needs to spin fast in order to fire, where the electronic ignition will fire at about 2 or 3 RPM.
Just something to consider, I think you would be happier with a G26 Electronic Ignition.

Status: online 		Something else "pegmal" will want to consider if decides to go with the G26, is to replace the Prop Hub with a BH Hanson Hub that uses a prop bolt. The tensil strenght of the stock prop shaft is not good.
I have a 1979 Super-Glide. I have really negelced the Hawg and she needs a lot of TLC.

Status: online 		I am not sure about the Pitts Muffler system. It seems most use the B&B Muffler or the B&B Header Pipe. I have used both B&B Systems. The Header gives the cleanest installation.

I'm thinking of selling my Blue/White Rascal 110. It's equiped with the G26ei, single Bennet Built muffler, True Turn spinner, SmartFly electrical cutoff, JR 126MG servos, Pilot figure, 2400/4.8 NICD ignishion, 1500/6 NICD reciever and 2.4 spectrum receiver. Only damage was caused by my over shrinking the top covering of the wing where the blue transparent covering underlies the white. DARN it! But that has been repaired but barely detectable. Overall great shape

2 questions
1. What is a fair asking price
2. Is there any interest

Status: online 		You may be shocked at the offers being tendered (some would say it is depressing). The market is really down from a year ago.
There is a lot of window shoppers (nothing wrong with that), but no one wants to part with their green-backs. Not that much disposable income, if any. This is not news to anyone out there, but times are tough.
There is a lot interest, but little money to spend.

The Rascal 110 is just a big trainer and a real joy to fly.
There is still a few out there to buy already built.
The SIG 1/4 scale Cub is in my staging area waiting its turn to get built.
Should be fun, but not like the Rascal 110.

Does anyone know if the DLE 30 engine would be a good engine choice for this plane?

The DLE 30 is lighter, and maybe more powerful than the G26EI? I'm just wondering if the DLE 30 would fit in the cowl well. I thought maybe someone would have tried it on the Rascal and could let me know.

I hope they are planing to sell the floats again, along with the new version of the Rascal 110. I moved into a house on a lake earlier this year, and I'd love to have one of these Rascal 110's on floats. I had a Rascal 40 about 15 to 20 years ago, and I could not believe how well it flew!

Status: offline 		When I bought mine it had a G26 on Cunningham ignition. I love my G26s and Ralphs are the best.. I hate to say it, but I took it off and installed a DLE20. It fit the cowl and had more power than the G26. Brian
