Just received my firestorm last friday, Swapped out the radio gear for spektrum. I had to take the top plate off to move the steering servo horn over a few splines and noticed plastic bushings in the steering bellcranks. I replaced these with 3mmx6mmx2.5mm metal sheilded bearings ($12). I had a chance to run a few tanks today, and must admit this is the frist RTR that cranked up on the 2nd pull of the starter! My jaw dropped seeing how easy this was......I knew this truck would be good after that happened.
At first I thought the stock springs were too soft, but after cutting a few tight corners with some speed, she did not even think of rolling over, and thats on grass! I am very impressed with its turning and handling abilities. I have yet to jump it, but will do so next time.
The engine is very fast, is pretty quiet, and has no dead spots. it will easily light up the rear tires and seems like is has vertually unlimited top end. I'm pleased with the layout, that resembles the GT2 by almost 95%, sure there are a few small changes, but the suspension arms shock towers look like associated. I guess if you want to make a winner you need to copy the best.
Overall Im very happy with the truck, I was considering a GT2 even after this arrived, but now no way! This will do nicely! I love how you can tune the gear diff with oils like the big 1/8ths, and being able to buy HPI rims that will fit front or rear of the truck, I cant tell you how many times I went to the LHS to buy new tires/rims for my T4 and they were either out of front rims, or rears rims.
I'd put his RTR against any RTR on the market right now.........A+ HPI!

I was looking at getting the MT2 RTR but i called HPI and they told me not to get it to get the Firestorm. I was shocked when they talked bad aobut their own product, so i think i may go with the firestorm. If the company that makes it tells you not to buy it, you shouldnt buy it.

I have had my Firestorm for about 2 weeks now and absolutely love it! This thing is quick and handles nicely at speed. I am going to change the clutch bell to an 18 or 17T to get a little more pop out of the corners because I run on several tight tracks, but other than that I will run as is for now.

I will warn you to look at the brake...they ship them (or at least mine) with little to no brakes, but just did a little adjusting and they work fine now. Not only adjust the quick adjust but look at adjusting the brake plates a little closer.

Anyone thinking about getting one will not be disappointed, especially with this only costing $260.00.

I will post pics soon.

LT

my brakes work almost too good but i did turn in the adjuster knob on the servo rod a little.... i agree with LT. 725.....this handles really nice and it just keeps revving out....the top and bottom end are pretty snappy.
