I have a 3.0 that I would sell but one of the screws on the back plate is just about stripped from the guy who had it before me. It is sealed up with no air leaks and I did go and mod it too so the bottom and mid range require you to work the trigger for traction. It was pretty much brand new when I got it. It still has the original tires on it and they look brand new too, so I am guessing it has about a quart of fuel through it. I have only drove it maybe 4 times and ran just 2 or 3 tanks each time. I also have 2 big blocks sitting on the shelf ready to rock so it is not necessarily needed.

Hey nitro rob, quick question about your idea to buy an OS engine. If i was gonna get an OS it would be a .18 tz, so my question is, would it drop right in, or would some modifications need to be made?

It will drop in but a tz is too much for stock gearing

No just spur and clutch bell. You could keep yours but good luck trying to control it.

I don't know if the TZ bolts right in. Its in this thread somewhere in the past 20-30 pages or so, Constantine (or something like that) put it in, he is in Romania. It was in the middle of the summer or so.

The tz comes in 2 ways pull and bump start. Bump start has a sg crank like the 3.0 and a slide carb. Pull has a rotary carb and a threaded crank. Both will need a whole new exhaust and neither a bump box or a shaft extension for the other. Personally the cvr has a little less power and rpm but you wont have to change anything it is a direct fit. It will also be easier to drive it with the same gearing or just replace the clutch bell with a bigger one. You also have to look at the cost of a new piston and sleeve int the future. Tz is $90 and the cvr is $45. It just matters how fast u want to go and how much you want to spend.

2 things. Firstly, Whats kind of carb does the g3.0 have and whats the difference between rotary carb and slide carb? Seconldy, those prices are not the same for where i live. Both the tz and cvr are $150(CAD) easy, if not more.

The 3.0 has a rotary too. The slide carb has a smoother power band and it just mounts up differant. You would have to turn the servo around. Those prices were to get new internals after those are worn. The motors are cvr $115 new $45 for piston and sleeve and tz $160 new $90 for piston and sleeve. This was just for future refferance for in the next year or two when it comes to be that time for a rebuild. Personally I would strap a big block in it if you are going to put money into the motor and upgrade it. Take it to the limit like everybody else in the form. Half of the people in here have a big block in their truck.

Got some bad new and worse new. Called my kinda lhs(far away to be an actual lhs) and they said they would have a g3 for me on satrday. went today to get it and nope. so the guy there told me a t3 would work fine you just need a pilot shaft extender so got the part and engine and went home. When i got home i found out the motor mounts are too low and the pilot shaft is higher than the g3. Now im screwed til next weekend.

Hey guys, long time I didn't check this place, hope everyone is ok!

I had a quick question and a new SUPER BRIGHT LED mod to share with you guys, i'll post pics very soon but it's pretty much the brightness flashlight ever mounted in the chassis with a rubber mount, looks awesome ! no custom mod required, i'll post where I got all the parts

Had a quick question too, I need your recommendation on the best battery to fit the Firestorm, I'm looking at the best capacity. I remember someone sharing a cheap LIPO store with good quality back then, you guys have the link handy ? too many pages to go through lol

my SMC 5000mah died on me after storing the cell fully charged for more than 2 month, SMC refused replacing it under warranty , lesson learned, keep it at 7.4V if i'm not using the cell within 1 or 2 days

Here is the mod in question, hope you get inspired (it will make you laugh at the tiny LED canopy mod most do). The flashlight support is strong enough to hold the light during jumps, and i'm also going to add a piece of foam at the front/back to be sure nothing nasty happens. The strap goes around the battery so a hard case is HIGHLY recommended !!

What you need:
A powerful and compact flashlight, here is the one i use, it has the latest and greatest P7 900-Lumen LED : http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.12060
If you go with that P7 Flashlight, youll need one Lithium 18650 Batteries and a Lithium charger, here is the battery (there are many charger out there, find the one that meet your need): http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.26249
and finally, the CORE item, the flashlight support @ only $3: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.12000
OPTIONAL: a clear canopy to let the light through (but even with the stock canopy, its CRAZY bright): http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXPYU1&P=7

I just ordered my Firestorm nitro from towerhobbies since they have a $25.00 dollar off coupon.  To those that have a Spectrum radio with the firestorm, do the receivers fit? and will it work with the stock servos?  Any tips or recommendations budget is $200.00 so its either  DX3E or DX2S

Estruadon, If I may, your budget could also be a lot less and you would still be getting SUPER quality

Below is a review I made a few month ago about the $80ish tactic 2.4Ghz TX/RX, I still love the setup + I still haven't replaced the TX batteries (I probably did 20 run since then) + I haven't experienced any drop (I always try driving as far as I can too lol), this radio is really impressive for what it cost..I STILL HIGHLY RECOMMENDED IT !!

quote:

First Impression of the tactic 2.4Ghz TX/RX combo from Hobbytowers after a few minutes run (currently @ $80ish with RX)

Pros
Awesome range !!!!!
Interference free !!!! (in my street, stock was loosing signal after 20m, 2.4ghz keep going forever)
Failsafe built in, OMG finally I can drive worry free !
Smoother acceleration and perfect precision even far away (barely see the car)
lighter TX/Rx
Smaller Rx
only 4 AA required
No more gigantic antennas
CHEEEEAAAAAPPPP !!!!!

Cons
Plastic quality a little under the stock TX
often out of stock at towerhobbie (I waited 3 month)
The reverse has a little less play so the car cannot go as fast as with stock TX (still pretty quick anyway), the forward has more play though, not sure if it goes faster, will check

Conclusion: a MUST buy for the failsafe alone !!!

not sure what the RX battery is for, I didnt need it to run the car

Wish I could post pics :-(

I am a fan of the spektrum setup. The displays are quite good. If the 2s is just like the 3s but with only two channels and two model memory then its a fantastic radio.

I got the tower catalog the other day and the nitro evader costs more than the firestorm. I have both trucks and the evader is not in the same league as the firestorm.

Yeah the spektrum radio's are really nice. I had a range issue with my dx3s. Both of the other people I would drive with have the stock am radio's and they could go farther than I could. That didn't upset me as much as if the fail safe would work like it does when it is on the ground in front of you instead of just going where ever it wants to. I had to add 2 more batteries to it and now I can drive it till it disappears. The stock servos will also work fine with it.

I paid around 35 for the integy set that had five pieces. The good hexes go for 5-10 each and you can get individual ones. I use the losi T-wrench for flywheel nuts. They are about 8 dollars and are common at most hobby shops. For removing a flywheel the best thing to use is a terminal puller. I got one on ebay for 5 dollars shipped. Its used to remove automotive battery terminals (or you can just tap the old one off)

Check out teamstrc.com. There are a whole bunch of new blitz aftermarket parts available that are compatible with the firestorm. HPI released the Blitz ESE that has a bunch of goodies on it and there are a lot of nice parts there as well. A ball differential is coming for it as well!

Hey rob i have a savage question, and i recall you have a couple. Is the 5.9 a major performance upgrade from the 4.6? and which would you say is the best in terms of durability, drivability, and performance?

I have no personal experience with the 5.9 but people I know say they are a big upgrade in power. Others say its more worthwhile to get a picco or lrp .28 for the money and performance. Did you get another engine?
