Finnally got the O.S. 18 CVR installed on the firestorm I got it used but it is still fairly new so I'm driving kindof easy with it now. but I can allready see the power difference in the 2 engines! I put on a 21T clutch bell and it still pulls wheelies with 4 heavy moabs wheels. I would like to figure out how I can go about getting a higher tooth clutch bell. traxxas makes a 24t bell that I think I'mm going to see if it will fit and associated used to make a 26t bell that is discontinued but if I can find one I will try it. there is tons of low end torque so I want to see how fast I can get her to go while still being able to pull wheelies!

    Congratulations yakfish!!!

I hope you can post some pictures and videos soon.. Did you made some cuts on the engine mounts and base plate too? and did you cut the crank shaft also?

    Thanks tcv,
I'll see about getting some pics up somtime tomarrow. yeah I had to cut the motor mounts to fit the engine I could have cut the base plate but I didn't want to do that kind of cutting on the engine so I put some bushings between the mounts and the chassy of the carto raise it up to clear the back plate. the motor came with a tiger drive that I didn't like so I got a pull start for it. maybe in a year or so when I need more power I'll upgrade to the tz!

Any one know if This will fit a firestorm. I have been trying to find a gear with a lower tooth count and I think maybe i have! The center hole looks about the same as the factory spur gear.

Yeah you need to get a different shaft for the TZ. The shaft on the G3.0 is all one peice with the crank there were too many things That I was going to need to buy to make it work with my firestorm making it alot cheaper to get the CVR.I think this is the pilot shaft that you would need for the TZ. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXM720&P=7 .A new exhaust manifold to make it fit was going to cost me $45.00 alone! Oh well maybe in the future.

It is about as direct a drop in that you will beable to find. will will have to cut on the motor mounts a bitI just used my dremel to make them work and I had to reem out the mount holes on the engine. O.S. claims 1.8ps at 29,000 rpm with a practical RPM range of 3000-34000 for $129.99 from tower, and the CVR claims 1.35 PS at 28000 rpm with a practical RPM range of 3000-32000 RPM for $109.99.
I got mine used on ebay for $72.00. The CVR can use your stock manifold while you do have to get a new manifold to work with the TZ. I would say go with the CVR becuase you can't have a faster storm than me!! .
seriously if you don't mind spending the few extra bucks go with te TZ! Then go kill some jatos (with the right gearing)!!
