    I got the videos uploaded!FINALLY! Dial-up + ME= LOL
I had to decrease the video size to 5mb,which then took 2 hours to upload...It is a little blury, but better than nothing.(i think)My tires are basicly on-road treadless tires right now.It bites pretty good on grass, but pukes on dirt.

    Here it is: http://s258.photobucket.com/albums/hh245/hpiman/?action=view¤t=Moviecverx.flv
I'll post this on my CV-RX installation thread.

wow i am really pissed right now. Me and my brother were trying to start the firestorm for the very first time and something in the engine broke. I had it firing for like 1 second and my younger brother wanted to start it since it is his and i let him. All of a sudden it stopped working right. At first we thought he had over pulled the pull start and trashed the thing but i took it off and it worked and so did the OWB. wen i take off the glow plug and pull, it still turns the engine but the piston isn't coming up far enough to fire. So now we are sending it to HPI and they will most likely end up replacing the engine. It is frustrating because we were so close to getting it to start and it breaks. . But the same thing (i think) happened to my friend's MT2 so obviously something is bad about HPI Nitro Star engines.

No there's nothing wrong with HPI engines. It's hard for us to say, because you can't even tell us whats really wrong with your engine.
That fact tells me that you don't really know what you're doing well enough to diagnose this problem

Having this information, I would conclude that you probably broke it.

It sounds like it's the connecting rod. It may have been flooded when you were trying to start it.
Take it apart and see before you start making claims against the quality of HPI engines.

HPI will probably be able to tell how you broke it and/or if it was a manufacturing problem.

right, there is nothing wrong with the quality of HPI engines. they run great and are fairly durable. but YOU CAN mess one up. I would agree with ExP that you probably broke the connecting rod. if you flodded it and kept on cranking on it something was going to have to give. next time you try to start a new engine try loosening the glow plug first by a couple of turns this will lower the compression and make it easier to roll the engine over. make sure that once the engine is running that you tighen the plug back down so it won't come out while you are running the car. If you flodd an engine take out the glowplug and crank the engine over uintill no more fuel is coming out of the cylinder then put the plug back in and try to start it. NEVR TRY TO FORCE AN ENGINE YOU ONLY CAUSE PROBLEMS DOING THAT!!!!!!!!!!

You are right because i am new to nitro and i don't know much about the engines and am not comfortable taking one apart so that is why we are sending it to HPI for repair since it is under warranty.
It couldn't have been because of flooded engine because i unflooded it after a few minutes of pulling. Then the engine began to come close to running and then the starter stopped working right. That is what i guessed at after posting this that it was the connecting rod. But i feel that simply pulling the pullstart shouldn't be breaking the engine. So IMO i think HPI should make more durable connecting rods.

    Hi all,

Just bought a Firestorm for my 7 yr. old. Breaking in the engine for him yesterday and all was going great! In the end, 3rd tank, I was running it around 1/2 throttle in 3-4 inch tall grass. I then ran in about 3/4 throttle on a sidewalk and it quit. The glow plug burnt out.

I pulled the plug and it was slightly black around the rim of the plug. What does this mean?

Also, can I just use my 30% nitro heli fuel in this truck? I have a friend that uses 30% in his t-maxx 2.5 all the time, over a year and he says he has had no issues. I know it may not run optimally, but for a 7 yr. old, that's ok. Stores have been telling me, too much oil content, but oil is good - no?

    Thanks in advance,
    Lane

What fuel are you using now??You might be over-heating it.I'd reccomend 20-25% nitro for more engine life.Also,8-12% oil content is decent for a .18 engine such as the G3.0.Try to avoid running it in high grass,it will result in higher running temps.
After switching fuel, you might need to adjust the fuel mixture.Always make sure you are not running it too lean, which causes over-heating.Good luck
