so im still waiting on the brand new firestorm that i had to send back to HPI for engine replacement. Unfortunately it is taking 1 week to get there since i am on the east coast and HPI is in California. Hopefully we will be able to fire it up for the first time so we can bash with my tmaxx too. Now that i have had my 10 minutes experience with the pullstart it should be easier and i hope the engine doesn't break again because then we will be returning it to Tower and prolly won't get another nitro for my bro for a long time til he has more money. Also, is it a good idea to put some after run oil into the engine before starting it when i get it back since it is a brand new engine? I never looked in it the first time to see if HPI had pre oiled it for me.

When I get a new engine, I take it apart and flush it out with fuel. Clean with a q-tip.
Sometimes there's some metal shaving left over, this is obviously bad.

Once the engine is all cleaned out. Put it back together, Sealing it with some Permatex Silicone Sealant. I use the Black Tube.

Take the pull start off and take it apart. You'll find a piece of the broken coil inside a groove.Throw it away.
Now make a bend at the broken end of the coil and slip it into the same groove where you found the broken piece.

WARNING:Take the coil spool out very carfully so that the coil will not unwind and fly into your face.

I just got a call from the hobby shop and they said the gasket between the exhuast header and the engine was messed up. so they replaced it.

You could just tell them to return it and let you seal it with Permatex Ultra Copper?Save $$$.I did it.Works perfect.

ya i hate it when companies never accept the fact that they screwed up. When i called HPI and said that something in the engine broke trying to start it the first time ever i asked what if it is a defective engine and then the guy said "sorry bud but they don't come defective". that pissed me off cuz the connecting rod shouldn't break on day one
