Wow, I just got my Yellow P-40 today. I will post some pics soon. Nice glass work with lots of carbon to back it up. It came complete with spinner and a great looking retracts. I love the setup of the gears. The fuse has panels lines and hatches all molded in. UNfortunately, it will be a few months before work can start on it, but man is it nice looking.

I have been waiting for a new spinner to finish the plane. I just got it last week and it looks great. I have a brison 5.8 in it now with a 24 x 12 3-bladed prop. It is sitting in the shop in primer with panel lines. Unfortunately I am working on my A-37 Dragonfly for Florida Jets in Febuary. I figure once we get back I can have it painted and ready tofly in early March. Once its done, she should be a real screamer. What are you working these days, anything interesting?

I take it you recommend the P-40. I have been waiting to hear about the P-40 before I get one. By the way, have you flown the P-47 yet?

The P-40 looks great and probably will go together well, but I can saying thing about its flight characteristics yet. If it flys like the other Yellow kits, it should just be fine.

As for the jug, I took it out to the field yesterday to fly it and radio problems, so I left it alone. I will try again as soon as I figure out what went wrong with the radio. Good looking plane and a very different color scheme. It was not a complete loss, I did get 6 flights on my Bobcat instead.

not surprised that the Yellow looks so good...they do a great job...but....they ought to when you're paying nearly $1400 for everything excluding the engine.....

LA7flier:

I just added up all of the components needed to finish a Ziroli P-40 minus the engine and there is not much difference in price:

(Note: All prices were obtained from the Ziroli web site and The Aeroplane Works web site)
1. PACKAGE: Fuselage, Cowl, Belly Pan, LG Fairings, Side
Windows, Canopy & Plan -- $314
2. 6.5in Aluminum Spinner with Machined Back Plate -- $60
3. Tail Wheel #160WC (Pneumatic) -- $119.25
4. Robart Retracts #150HD8 -- $365
5. 157VRX Large Scale Air Kit W/Tank and Quick
Disconnects -- $76.95
6. 5.5in, 10 spoke, Tuff Treads by Robart {#13855A2
(each)} $72 x 2 = $144
7. Wing Kit (The Aeroplane Works) -- $275

Total = $1354.20

So basically, for less than fifty dollars Yellow Aircraft does most of the work for you and details the fuse with accurate scale panel lines. Not a bad value.

Kirk, I think you got it right. In actuality, my whole kit came closer to 1600.00, because I added a detailed cockpit kit and a few other things. I figure that for an extra 150.00 it is well worth the extra to have a lot of the work done for you. Also and fuse looks great.

I was gonna post some pics of the kit, but I found another post here that already has them. No use in reposting the same pics.

You can put together a Yellow Aircraft kit ready to fly in 40-60 hrs of working time without modification to the instructions. My Hanger 9 P51 ARF took me 20hrs with several mods. This goes to show how much work was already done for you.

Yea...except I cut my own wing so I would end up saving that amount but you're basically right....Ziroli is a bit bigger, as well..

Well, I stopped over to see Sung's new baby! I must admit, Yellow Aircraft has gone a great deal of making these changes...

-epoxy fuse,
-carbon fiber here and there, where its needed
-excellent glass layup
-nicely done panel lines (as usually)
-very light
-did not find any pinhole (amazing)
-seem line is excellent

best rotating retracts I had ever seen.... all of it is worth every penny!

Yeah! I drooled! sorry Sung!
